BlackBerry Bold 9790 Indonesia launch [video]
The BlackBerry Bold 9790 launch event that took place in Indonesia last week was a pretty big deal. It was the first time a device was released first in Indonesia, and many were on hand to take in the event. RIM Co-CEO Jim Balsillie took the stage to unveil the latest full QWERTY device to a very receptive crowd. It was definitely one of the bigger device releases for RIM, and the Bold 9790 looks to be a great alternative to the BlackBerry Bold 9900. Will you be picking up a Bold 9790? Have you already? Sound off in the comments!

It's local Indonesian fashion - yet again catering to the crowd. Good job Jim!

This is a really smart move by RIM. They've really tapped into a big market with Indonesia and made it near-exclusive by getting everyone hooked on BBM. Now they're just securing that foothold by giving the country an exclusive product launch...very, very clever.

I really like that they are attacking emerging markets in a meaningful way. I just hope they get a couple high-end BBX phones to the US and use BB7 for the emerging market until late 2012.
