BlackBerry Bold 9700 Review Roundup
Posted in Software Reviews on 05 Nov 2009 12:15 by Kevin Michaluk | 24 comments

The interwebs have been filling up with review coverage of the BlackBerry Bold 9700, which is now beginning to roll out to carriers around the globe (you'll need to check to see if your carrier has it yet). With so much content out there, and even CrackBerry.com doing up multiple reviews, I figured a little roundup of some links would be useful. And for those who have bought one already, how do you do like it? Sound off in the comments!

Thanks Kevin, after watching this video I'm defintely sticking with the Telus Tour. I prefer a larger device and wished for the old Bold to come to Telus. Now my Tour is the biggest blackberry on Telus and I'll stick with it. I really can't believe RIM made the Bold smaller!

would they make a BOLD that looks just like a Tour or Curve? Why not just make it the next generation CURVE?? Seems that part of the purpose of the BOLD was the bigger size. I have small hands but thought that those with bigger hands could appreciate the BOLD. Now what do they have? Old generation BOLD or forced to switch to touchscreen. Seems kinda dumb to me.

I prefer to test the device on my own - that is the only review I care about when it's in my hands and being abused, err, used. :-)

Looks like a nice phone but not sure about the size.Seems too small to me. The Tour for me is the perfect size.

RIM needs to stop making so many different phones. The Curve, Bold, and Tour are like all the same exact looking phone now. Kinda ridiculous if you ask me.

So as we all know, the browser IS the weak spot of all BBs. Anyone have good luck with other browsers for BB?

I thought the Bold was too big when I first got it but I'm used to it now. I'll be curious to play with the 9700 and see if the smaller keyboard and screen are negatives. One improvement that wasn't mentioned was the glass over the camera lens. If you carry the Bold in your pocket the lens attracts dust, so I'm always having to clean it before taking a shot. Now you'll just have to worry about scratching up the glass.

So rediculous!!! I see 3 phones..

Pearl Flip
Storm
Bold/Curve/Tour whatever crap you wanna call it.

It's a bit irritating to see all these phones RIM develops with MINOR changes... i'm waiting for the Dakota/Magnum

I don't see a reason for me to upgrade from my Bold to the 9700.(att) The changes are not so great that it would warrant me spending the extra money. Maybe ill start looking into a droid, as I don't know what RIM is thinking.

This would be a great way to answer my phone..instead of waiting for the slow screen to adjust or sometimes white lines mess up the placement of the buttons. i would love this app!

I just bought the 9700 and replaced my old Bold. The old Bold was just fat and ugly. The new one is perfect. Just as good to type, track pad is much better.Overall it is way better.

You cant even compare, I feel theres nothing to argue about. Just much better, Its obvious that the slimmer a phone is, the better it looks. Thats exactly what RIM did.
