Can a tmobile person download the new OS?

Posted by Teddyp6 Thursday, Jan 07, 2010 865 days ago

Just make sure you delete the "vendor" file before you load it on your phone

Anyone from any carrier can download this OS! If you wish to install it to your 9700 than just make sure to delete the "vendor.xml" file first...

I just upgraded to the Bell version a couple of weeks ago. It does look like a step back to 400 but if anyone uploads it, please post your findings.

I'm running .405, have been for a while and the newest is .423... and this one is .400??!?!

i was running 405 and battery life was amazing, now on the 421 isnt that great. havent heard anything good for the 423 so i think ima stick to the 421 till we get one for tmobile cuz to tell u the truth gets annoying downloading all the apps again..,. if there was a way to save the apps without deleting them when we upgrade/downgrade will be awesome...

My software is running great on stock .344 so I'll wait to see the usual complaints before deciding to give it a whirl :D

there are tons of programs to save your apps. first off would be desktop manager. some things it will load up along with the OS. you'll have to google for the procedure though. i use bbsak 1.7 to save all my apps. anything that don't get loaded i use bbsak to reinstall. there are other means also.

it takes me ONE hour. to do EVERYTHING.

how do u delete the vendor file?

Posted by Jaxenroth Thursday, Jan 07, 2010 865 days ago

To delete vendor file go to c:/programfiels/common/file/RIM/Apploader
in apploader delete the vendor file. Empty rec bin restart pc and after reboot use DM to upload new OS. IF that dosen't work go to the same location stated above and and in the app loader file d.click apploader icon. whammy.

Bell already has the 5.0.0.423 out. The link is the same as the one in the earlier OS update for 9700 on crackberry.com

I've been running .423 since it was released and have no problems whatsoever

Ive been running v5.0.0.678 official from o2 UK for the past week now, no complaints

i call BS unless you provide the link, you're most likely running 5.0.0421 which is the platform you mentioned.

Im pretty sure you saw the wrong numbers... my guess is .421 you are running...

This is funny, I live in DR, and none of the GSM companies have the 9700 here for sale, only particular sellers, and i was looking for a upgrade for mine and this is what I came across.

Software For BlackBerry® Bold (TM) 9700 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.554 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 5.0.0.554
Consisting of:

* Applications: 5.0.0.351
* Software Platform: 5.1.0.98
* File name: 9700M_PBr5.0.0_rel554_PL5.1.0.98_A5.0.0.351_Orange_Dominicana.exe
* File size: 143.56MB

That is the update for orange and there is also one from Claro, who is the other GSM carrier.

pple stop posting wrong numbers... thats aint newer thats OLD 5.0.0.351...
Latest one is 5.0.0.423 use Google

U have to look at the application numbers
not the package version numbers

So for O2 that would be: 421 and not 678

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.678 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 5.0.0.678
Consisting of:
Applications: 5.0.0.421
Software Platform: 5.1.0.116
File name: 9700M_PBr5.0.0_rel678_PL5.1.0.116_A5.0.0.421_O2_UK.exe
File size: 131.28MB

Where's my 8900 5.0?! ;_;

I have to shamelessly admit played with .400 but went back to .423. I agree with many here that state .423 is best up to this point in time.

I had some issues with the SMS threads, but other than that everything is just perfect... Battery life is excellent, so for now I am sticking with .423
