BlackBerry App World v2.0.1.12 now available for download

Looks like Research In Motion has decided to roll out another update for BlackBerry App World. Version 2.0.1.12 is now available for download if you refresh your already existing installation of BlackBerry App World. At this time we do not currently have a change log to go with the release but, if you find anything new in be sure to comment in the forums or here in the comment section. Keep in mind, it might be a gradual roll out as well so, if you're not seeing it show up right away you may just have to hold out a bit longer until it becomes available.

also a update for bb traffic beta 1.3.0.518
gatorboi352 Oct 8, 2010 at 3:55 pm
Hopefully it fixes the Left to right, right to left scrolling delays between the 5 top 25 pages.
I've seen smother transitions on an LG Dare.
john_s Oct 8, 2010 at 4:02 pm
FYI: If you try to download it from www.blackberry.com/download/appworld you'll get the old version.
Just download it within the blackberry app world app.
Raider1270 Oct 8, 2010 at 4:06 pm
Where in appworld do I find the update?
brad.catron Oct 8, 2010 at 6:01 pm
Search for Blackberry App world within the application itself, and download from there.
brandim24 Oct 9, 2010 at 12:41 am
thanks I would of been searching around for that upgrade forever! Just downloaded it now and did the "reboot" give me 15 min and I'll be cruising the updated version! Hopefully I'll notice a difference, nothing like an upgrade you can't tell happened!
Raider1270 Oct 8, 2010 at 4:03 pm
How exactly do I refresh my current appworld installation?

1) Thank g-d, in "My World" there is no more uninstalled list.
2) In "Top 25" the first and last category don't appear to merge on both sides.
decypher44 Oct 8, 2010 at 4:09 pm
I thought so, too. However, if your reset App World, the list comes back.
gorith Oct 9, 2010 at 1:25 am
but once i signed in on BBID they came back. its kinda annoying seeing the uninstalled list, i deleted them for a reason....
decypher44 Oct 8, 2010 at 4:07 pm
haven't noticed anything new yet. Maybe just minor bug fixes.
tekware Oct 8, 2010 at 4:38 pm
Why is it that a search for BlackBerry App World IN BlackBerry App World comes up with nothing? Hell, App World doesn't even show up in My World within App World. Also, if you go to http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/appworld/ and send yourself the link to download App World, it's an older version. It would seem that sending new users a less than current version is not very efficient.
I realise that you can find App World in the top 25 apps but it just seems like this should be the easiest program to upgrade.
mmcpher Oct 8, 2010 at 6:26 pm
Don't know why, but if you leave the Blackberry off and just search for "App World" you will see Blackberry App World within the results and off you go.
tekware Oct 8, 2010 at 9:12 pm
Oh I got it fine before my first comment. It shows up under the top 25. I merely pointed out that it doesn't show up under a search and it did not appear in My World even though the last version was installed on my phone. In my humble opinion, it's silly crap like this that RIM has to fix. These are no-brainers and give Apple-Heads the constant high ground in the "it just works" argument.
Messenger was updated today - I should immediately be able to go into App World on my phone, where it should tell me there is an update of App World. I should be able to search for App World within App World and it should, oddly enough appear. I should be able to go on BlackBerry's website with my PC and send myself the link to App World and the link should be for the latest version.
BlackBerry is no longer just competing with Apple and old Nokia and Motorola phones. Things are changing at an ever increasing rate and a smart-phone is damned near obsolete the day you sign your first contract. Here in Canada that's a 3 YEAR FREAKING LONG TIME. It's the little things that matter when you're stuck with a phone for a year longer than it probably works. I like BlackBerry and I want them to succeed. I just happen to think that they need some tough love and not constant swooning.
That's my rant of the day and I feel better now. Hopefully someone from RIM will be slumming by and read it.
For those still with me, it only updated from the Top 25 for me. I'm in Canada, on Rogers. I notice that the uninstalled apps aren't appearing in My World anymore. I like that fine or a way of removing them from the display would have been cool too. They always made me think that something was still squatting about in my phone.
I still prefer CrackBerry's way of displaying the Installed/Latest version of apps. I find App World to be delayed and inconsistent on letting me know there is an update for a particular program. The Top 25 Newest/Free/Paid/Themes/Recently Updated seems much better. The only change I would make is to make the scrolling a circle - left from Newest should take you to Recently Updated rather than bouncing and then coming back to Newest again.
I still don't get why I have to enter my BlackBerry ID each and every time I try to download something - even a completely free something. This just annoys the hell out of me. They know who I am or they wouldn't be telling me what is on my phone in the first place. Just read my Pin. If I get a new phone then ask me for my ID and allow me to transfer my apps from the old Pin to the new one.
sstevenson Oct 8, 2010 at 4:41 pm
Not available in Canada yet I guess

Would appreciate it.

Frank2029 Oct 8, 2010 at 5:49 pm
dude calm down. You will get the update within a few hours or few days. its not that major. its just a little quicker.
abrax Oct 8, 2010 at 5:14 pm
So far, with 2.0.0 I managed to connect from a country which is not supported by app world by connecting only through wifi and disabling mobile network.
Now I can't, it wouldn't allow me starting the app without turning mobile network on - and if turned it on, of course I get the alert that it's not available in my country.
So rolling back to 2.0.0.36
fireflex72 Oct 8, 2010 at 6:29 pm
Just be sure to there's a space in between app and world when searching in App world
coronasport203 Oct 8, 2010 at 6:43 pm
I hate when there is an upgrade/update... And people fill the forums with 'downloading now' like can u just download da shit play with it for a lil while and then tell us if its a little half decent cause I'm sure that's all we want to hear.. Not who's downloading but who actually download it!
tryfe Oct 8, 2010 at 7:33 pm
^--- downloading now..
luqman24 Oct 8, 2010 at 8:14 pm
FOR THOSE OF YOU U WHO ARE HAVING TROUBLE UPDATING OR THINK THEY CAN'T, SEARCH "APP WORLD" IN THE BB APP WORLD ITSSELF AND DOWNLOAD IT FROM THERE. IT IS AVAILABLE IN THE US AND CANADA (Not sure of the other countries).IM IN CANADA AND WAS ABLE TO UPDATE THIS WAY. GOOD LUCK! (Btw I wasn't shouting it out, just thought it would be easier to notice :))

I can not believe how frustrating this is. App world 2 now requires a BBID before downloading both paid and free apps. I have a BBID which works via the BlackBerry.com. When I try to dowload apps (which is the whole point of app world) I get stuck in an infinit loop.
In order to confirm my BlackBerry ID I am asked a question, "Would you like to migrate your previous BlackBerry App World Purchases?"
Yes -> takes me to a PAYPAL login screen.
No -> takes me back in a circle to the initial BlackBerry ID login screen.
I do not have a PAYPAL account and I have no paid apps, I select No. This returns me to the BBID login and sticks me in a stupid infinit loop. No downloading apps for my shiny new Torch.
Yes, I have noted the irony of the fact that the App World update which may contain the solution to my problem is only avialable from within App World from which I am not able to download any apps.
con4n007 Oct 9, 2010 at 12:29 am
No love for taiwan yet :(
brandim24 Oct 9, 2010 at 12:49 am
I don't notice anything major with this update except it seems a little faster......has anyone else noticed any changes in the new app world version?
aatef.bham Oct 9, 2010 at 1:59 am
Hey
I'm from India and after downloading the new update, there is one noticeable change I encountered.
The price of any application, which was first mentioned in $ only now is in Rupees (Indian Currency).
So I guess it's just a currency updater.
AleksanVuk Oct 9, 2010 at 3:13 am
Is there a version for us without BIS?
Jason Jiang Oct 9, 2010 at 6:10 am
who can tell me how to download it??from app?
RAUB Oct 9, 2010 at 6:49 am

aelnyal Oct 9, 2010 at 9:07 am
I live in Egypt i and used to purchase with app world V2.0 with my credit card and my Paypal account but only by WIFI and the the carrier network is off, now after upgrading to (2.0.1.12) i noticed that i can't open app world via WIFI, so i did a downgrade to V2.0 and it's working good now. i don't know if this what RIM wanted change (disable WIFI).
please check it out in supported countries.
thanks,,
boggsterman Oct 9, 2010 at 10:21 am
Well, i'm in south africa and just downloaded it, at first it looked like there was nothing different but it appear they now have all the apps priced in the local currency, Rands, where as before they had everything in what can only assume were US$s. I don't know if u can buy anything or not because i never bought any apps before and i'm not gonna start now, but thought that was a cool update.
The Consigliere Oct 9, 2010 at 10:37 am
The only thing I've really noticed so far has already been mentioned, no more "uninstalled list" other than that, can't see too much of a difference but I don't spend that much time on app world.
CharM-ed Oct 9, 2010 at 11:49 am
Now that I've upgraded, I can't go to "My World" or download any apps with out entering a BBID.
Is this something I have to set up or does it have something to do with my Wireless account (with Rogers, in Canada)??
I don't want to get stuck in the loop that someone else mentioned previously. Any help is much appreciated!!

wyldemf Oct 9, 2010 at 12:34 pm
I like having the uninstalled list on there.
green_ember Oct 9, 2010 at 3:20 pm
Downloads are a LOT faster for me after the update. Much less pausing and hourglassing. Before it would stop every 70-80k or so. Now the pause is somewhere around 120k give or take.
cscott44 Oct 9, 2010 at 5:06 pm
I hate having to enter this everytime I download. Should be a "remember me" option on there. Other than that I like the update.
ebd74 Oct 10, 2010 at 12:45 am
I have been unable to do anything in AppWorld since "upgrading" to 2.0.0.36. Contacting support has gotten me nothing but an automated response. I can't upgrade AppWorld from AppWorld due to the issue. I can't download the new version from the website because it's still the old version. Does anyone know of an OTA link?
airrage Oct 10, 2010 at 9:16 am
Still wont install, very weird and super slow
OmOmSplat Oct 10, 2010 at 12:55 pm
I can't believe I can't use Appworld in Egypt & the rest of the middle-east!! UAE is a huge Blackberry market and just not having AppWorld accessible there is stupid! No wonder RIM are getting their asses handed to them by Droid & iOS
fdokos Oct 11, 2010 at 3:12 am
It doesn't work in "other" countries any more. So, stay on 2.0.0.36, if you are not in one of the supported countries!
BB_BoldLover64 Oct 11, 2010 at 11:47 am
What kind of sick joke is this? BB need to get their business together, this is really ridiculous. Its eyebleeding painfully slow.
ORIGINQuest Oct 11, 2010 at 11:59 am
BlackBerry App World 2.0.1.12 can only be used with Wi-Fi if you are on the Telus Social 40 Plan.
hbelkin Oct 12, 2010 at 11:43 am
If you have a business paypal account (or a name exceeding 25 characters) the previous versions did not work (got a paypal error). RIM told me that they corrected the problem, just to wait for the "next" release ... and this one does indeed fix it!
