BlackBerry PlayBook 101: Using BlackBerry App World on your BlackBerry PlayBook
BlackBerry App World is the go to for apps on your BlackBerry smartphone as well as your BlackBerry PlayBook. While you've surely been using App World on your phone for quite some time, you'll find both similarities and differences in App World for the BlackBerry PlayBook. All the same features are there - including categories, featured and top lists - but some things are a bit different as well. Featured Carousel
This is the familiar featured list you've seen on your phone. Here you will find the top applications through which you can scroll. Navigation icons on this screen include Featured, Categories, My World, Search and Home.
The Featured screen also contains a subcategory with Newest, Top Free, Top Purchased and Recently Updated.
Categories
From the Categories screen you can view both free and paid apps according to categories.
Within the category you can filter between Paid, Free and All.
My World
Much like on your phone, My World connects with your BlackBerry ID and shows all the applications that are installed, unavailable or uninstalled.
Search
Plain and simple - use the Search to find applications. You can search terms in both titles and descriptions.
Download and Install
To download and install applications, first navigate to the application. Click the Download button. Enter your BlackBerry ID and password if prompted. The application will download followed by a confirmation message.
Once the download is complete, the application will show under the All tab.
Uninstalling Applications
Applications can only be uninstalled through BlackBerry App World. To do so, navigate to My World. Select the installed application, then choose Delete.
Help
The Help screen is located in the top right corner of all screens within BlackBerry App World. Clicking it launches the Help application.
