Howdy CrackBerry nation! How are you all doing on this fine day? The weekend is here and it is time once again to not only bring you some great apps and games but give a shoutout to all the news that hit the blog this week. The big story this week was hands-on with the BlackBerry Venice and the new images that surfaced. Whether you are for or against Android on BlackBerry, you have to admit the keyboard is sweet! I for one cannot wait to get my hands on the new device. I always loved my BlackBerry Torch 9800. This week we also saw a sweet update to Blaq in the Beta Zone, BlackBerry CEO John Chen spoke at the Waterloo innovation summit in , and BlackBerry getting ready to announce their Q2 Fiscal 2016 results on September 25.

Now it's time to bring you this week's picks for all your passionate BlackBerry addicts out there. You can find each app and game I've rustled up for you by clicking through the gallery below. If your favorite did not make the cut this week, remember you can help by offering your suggestions at the end.

TouchRetouch by ADVA Soft

TouchRetouch

One can argue there are too many photo editing applications in both storefronts. However, this won't stop me from trying as many as I can. What hooked me into purchasing this application from the Amazon Appstore is how it grants users the option to remove unwanted objects from your photos. Were you the victim of a photobombing or an accidental guest? Have unwanted wires, poles, or other ghastly objects in the background you wish to get rid of? Have no fear, this application will save your photos. While you are performing edits in the application, a box appears in the upper corner of the screen with a zoomed in view to increase accuracy. When an area to remove is selected, it becomes red. Once you are finished with selecting the troublesome areas, tap the go button to perform the action. All of the highlighted objects or people are removed quickly and the background instantly vanishes as if it never existed. At the top of the screen are undo and redo options in case you make a mistake or are not satisfied with the results. You can purchase from the Amazon Appstore for $1.99.

Groovy by TMC Devs

Groovy

One can never have too many music applications. Groovy, from the developers behind BProfile is an app/client to stream MP3s from various streaming services. Users can search, listen, and control music from within the application. There are also options to restart and repeat, invoke Instant Play, search for music from the assistant with the extended device-search integration, and the option to remove ads with a $0.99 IAP. Groovy is a beta release, requires OS 10.3.x and higher, and is native. It is free to download from BlackBerry World.

Coward Hero by PlayOne Digital Content Co.,Ltd.

Coward Hero

Going through BlackBerry World I came upon this action-adventure game about a coward hero who is running for treasure. The game itself is quite simple to play, as your goal is to defeat the enemies around you, escape the traps, and collect as many coins as you cam in the process. There are three boards users can choose from: Arcade, which has thirty levels; Survival, which is endless, requires a certain level of experience, and is unlocked after completing the first three levels of the first board and Hardcore. I haven't been able to unlock the last one so I am not sure how many Arcade levels require completion before becoming available. All of your controls are on the screen. Simply tap the up arrow to jump, the sword to slash at blue and green slime monsters, and tap the shield to bash orange and purple monsters. The graphics are decent and it is a cute little game to pass the time. Coward Hero is free to download for all touch devices only and is native.

RunPee by polyGeek

RunPee

This application has been around for a while and I decided to check it out after a bit of debate. The main purpose of the application is to let people know when to run the restroom during a film without missing any of the best scenes or important elements of the plot. Not only does it give you a synopsis of what occurred during this time, it alerts you by vibration when the time is coming, and lets you know if there is anything after the end credits all without bothering the people around you. You can find it for $0.99 in the Amazon Appstore.

What You Might Have Missed

Metal Pixels by Marco Gallo

Metal Pixels

For those who enjoy jump'n' run games, there is Metal Pixels by Marco Gallo. His games are always fun and you have to love the 8-bit graphics. In this game you assume the role of a heavy metal character whose job is to grab a guitar and blast through the enemy onslaught to become a true metal pixel hero. Being this is 8-bit, it is no surprise to find the controls resemble the old Nintendo controllers. The red button on the left is for a jump attack while the one on the right is for jumping. If you think this game is easy, think again as it is quite challenging. If you want to relive your childhood, then be sure to purchase this for $0.99 for BlackBerry 10.
