King of Thieves by ZeptoLab

King of Thieves

I have been waiting a bit for this particular game, from the developer behind Cut the Rope, to work when downloaded from the Amazon Appstore. Lo and behold, the connection error is no longer an issue and I can play to my heart's content. Recently updated to a special Halloween version, King of Thieves is an enjoyable multiplayer game. Your goal is to break into the various dungeons, dodge traps and steal gold and gems from various players. You have the ability to design your own dungeons and outfits, watch other thieves get caught in your traps, and create and join guilds to find allies. Players can also buy extra hazards for their dungeons. You can download this platformer for free.

Quake Listener by Jacopo Federici

Quake Listener

For anything and everything you wanted to know about seismic activity around the world, there is Quake Listener. As I currently reside in New York, we rarely experience earthquakes, but if wanted to view important details on events this native application is quite useful. Quake Listener pulls information from the USGS (U.S. Geological Survey). Users are presented with a list of events that occurred during the past day, with the option to switch to another day.

All of the individual events for the current day are listed on the main screen. On the left hand side is the location and Country while the date and time, magnitude, and alert bar are located on the right. By tapping on a single event, the application shows additional details about the earthquake such as position on the map, depth, and geographical coordinates. Using the menus, you can also see the top ten earthquakes, add bookmarks, and find earthquakes with the advanced search feature. This native application is free to download, but in order to access certain pro functions, an in-app purchase of $0.99 is required. It is compatible with all BlackBerry 10 handsets.

Cavernaut by Jan Schoenepauck

Cavernaut

Going through the Amazon Appstore, I discovered this interesting game. In this game you are tasked with piloting your spaceship through an alien planet's intricate maze of caves. Your goal is to maneuver the caverns to try and reach the surface all while collecting luminum crystals (to trade for upgrades and fuel) and avoid various obstacles such as mines and laser batteries. All of the caves are randomly generated and in order to come out the other side unscathed you need to focus carefully. This isn't a game where you can play for a few minutes and put down but rather one that requires concentration. Players steer their ship using simple touch and tile controls. There are other items to collect which help to improve gameplay. Cavernaut is $1.99 to download from the Amazon Appstore and free from the Amazon Underground (US, UK, Germany, and France only). For anyone who was a fan of the classic arcade game Lunar Lander, you will enjoy this one.

Weather by CreativeCode

Weather

Next up on our list today is this native application suggested by one of our readers. And who can turn down such a stylish weather app? Weather is an eye-catching program which provides daily (seven days) and hourly forecasts from Forecast.io. It comes to us by way of CreativeCode Apps, whose motto is "creating pixel perfect apps one line of code at a time." This is certainly evident when you see how much work they put into the design and layout of the interface. There is no lag whatsoever and all of the functions are effortless and quick.

Users can add as many locations as they want and choose between five different vibrant themes. With more features planned in upcoming releases, why not grab this for free in BlackBerry World? The development team is looking to add Hub integration and notifications, Radar Maps, and Custom Active Frames.

Ambient Details from Wikipedia by Sven Ziegler IT Solutions

Ambient Details

For those of you who love to travel and to discover the history behind various sites, there is Ambient Details. From the developer that brought you Proximity Photos and ReadItNow!, this native application turns your device into an interactive tourist guide. It gathers interesting background stories and facts about surrounding places, monuments, museums and more. It does so by using your geographical position, or any position, to display all available articles around you from Wikipedia. You can grab it for $0.99 from BlackBerry World.
