Howdy CrackBerry nation! Another week has passed so you know what that means? Not only is it time to share with you another batch of apps for your BlackBerry 10 or Priv smartphone, but it's also time to catch up on all the news that transpired since we last met.

Starting things off this week was a brand new episode of the BerryFlow Podcast, where James, Chris, and Alex discussed the various BlackBerry announcements from Mobile World Congress and Embedded World. We also saw BlackBerry roll out several app updates to the Priv, which brought additional functionality and fixes to the BlackBerry Keyboard, Camera, and Launcher. Most importantly, this week marked the long awaited arrival of the BlackBerry Priv on Verizon.

Now it's time to bring you this week's picks for all you passionate BlackBerry addicts out there. You can find each app and game I've rustled up for you by clicking through the gallery below. If your favorite didn't make the cut this week, remember you can help by offering your suggestions at the end.

Synonyms by Jacopo Federici

Synonyms

Previously available in the BlackBerry Beta Zone, Synonyms is a native BlackBerry application to search for, as the name implies, words having the same or nearly the same meaning as the original.

Synonyms is a simple tool for searching and discovering alternate words for whatever task or writing assignment you are working on. All you have to do is type in the word and it will list the parts of speech and the list of acceptable words that can be used in its place. It comes with over 200,000 synonyms, rapid copy to clipboard, abbreviation list, and Wikipedia page integration.

You can find Synonyms in BlackBerry World for $1.99. An ITA version is also available called Sinonimi.

Galactic Nemesis by CS54 INC

Galactic Nemesis

As a child, I grew up playing Space Invaders on my Atari and Colecovision video-game consoles. The object of this classic shooter game was to move your ship horizontally across the board to fire at aliens descending from the top of the screen. Galactic Nemesis offers a modern take on the genre. It retains the 8-bit arcade style graphics, albeit with a little more color and detail.

With Galactic Nemesis, not only are you battling waves of alien races and mega bosses but the original's line formation is replaced with alien ships attacking from various directions. All you have have to do is drag your ship across the screen to avoid enemy fire and shoot. There are 48 stages to complete, 10 ships to upgrade to, challenges to complete, coins to earn (to purchase upgrades), and, of course, the retro music and graphics.

Galactic Nemesis may be simplistic, but it offers hours of fun. It takes the original and updates it just enough without losing what made it so addictive in the first place.

You can download Galactic Nemesis for free in the Amazon Underground (US, UK, Germany, and France only) or in the Amazon Appstore.

TSF Launcher 3D Shell by TSFUI

TSF Launcher 3D

TSF Launcher 3D is an Android Launcher which gives you the ability to customize several, if not all, of the elements of the home screen. Not only can you redefine the font, icons, and backgrounds, but you can even change the dock bar, App Drawer, and how you switch screens. It offers a unique graphical interface, including menus, widgets, and batch icons, to make your screen stand out.

When it comes to downloading different themes and icons, you can use the default or choose to download download icon packs (such as the cartoon one shown in the image above). TSF also allows you to change the dock, adjust gestures, has its own customizable App Drawer and smooth animation transition effects. What I do enjoy about TSF is the ease of use, the 3D visualizations, and the exclusive widgets, such as Message, Clock, Weather, Memo, Music, and Gallery.

This launcher quickly and easily changes the various elements on your BlackBerry Priv.

You can download TSF Launcher 3D Shell in Google Play for free.

Journal – Diary, Journal by Two App Studio Pte. Ltd.

Journal

I often switch between an old fashioned pen and paper journal and using an app to document various events. Journey is one such app for capturing life's moments. Whether it be to chronicle a trip, preserving a special moment, or just documenting your innermost thoughts, this intuitive app is focused on helping you log and revisit these moments.

Journal itself comes with a beautifully designed minimalist interface, which enables you to effortless create and search through your diary without worrying about cumbersome menus. You can swipe between entries for easy reading, publish to several social networks, and sync across devices with Google Drive.

In Journal, each moment can be catalogued through a variety of methods. You can browse entries by list, timeline, calendar, photo, or atlas (i.e. Geotagging). There is also an option to include the current weather in an entry, log your activity or motion, as well as including quotes from their inspiration section.

While many Journal's features are available immediately upon download, a premium version is available as an in-app purchase for $3.13 (sale price). These premium features include markdown shortcuts/preview, night mode, and backing up the entire journal to local storage.

If you have been meaning to chronicle various moments of your life or just wish to jot down your thoughts and feelings, Journal offers a variety of features to get this done.

You can download Journal for free in Google Play.

Memoir by William Rafael de Jesus Ribeiro

Memoir

Memoir is a simple application for backing up your Remember Notes to Microsoft's OneNote. For those who do not wish to manually and copy and paste the data from Remember into another application, this is a useful tool for saving your personal data. Please note, this will only store notes created in the Remember app and not those created and synced with Evernote.

Memoir acts as a conduit between the Remember app and your OneNote account. Whatever notes you create in Remember, will instantly appear in Memoir, with attachments. All you have to do is tap on the ones you wish to sync. You can upload individually or choose to do all at once. There is also an option in settings where you can choose to be prompted before proceeding with any action.

Once uploaded through Memoir, you can view and edit on any device with access to your OneNote account. They will appear in your account in a notebook called 'BB10 Notes by Memoir'. Due to this being a BETA, two-way syncing is not available at this time nor is the ability to sync tasks created in Remember. If you modify an item in OneNote, it will not update on your BlackBerry. However, any changes made in Remember are detected and synced.

The developer will be adding more features and is currently looking for your feedback. You can contact him directly or through the CrackBerry Forums.

Memoir is compatible with all BlackBerry 10 devices running OS 10.3 and higher. It is currently on sale in BlackBerry World for $1.99.

What You Might Have Missed

Latest Hub10 beta update adds several new features, improvements, and bug fixes!

Hub10

When Hub10 first appeared in the BlackBerry Beta Zone, it gave BlackBerry 10 users what they had been clamoring for, a dark theme for the Hub. Although funcationality was limited at the time, Hub10 let you tap on messages, compose new messages, pinch filter, view and search emails, and add contacts from email recipient lists.

A new version is now available to download in the Beta Zone which brings several new features, improvements, and bug fixes. These include the flagging and replying to emails, composing and sending emails, deleting from Hub and/or server, gestures and controls, and marking read/unread.

Once you download this update, you can submit feedback and suggestions through the Beta Zone app or the CrackBerry Forums. If you are not already a Beta Zone member, you can sign up for one for free. However, access to the BlackBerry Beta Zone is restricted to certain regions.
