Howdy CrackBerry nation! This week has certainly been a busy one, the most notable of which was the introduction of our new EiC Bla1ze! Though after hearing that bit of news the rest of the week paled in comparison. If you haven't had a chance yet be sure to take a peak at those sweet pics of the BlackBerry Passport and OS 10.3 screenshots or, for our Canadian neighbors, take advantage of the CrackBerry Canada Day sale for 20% of all BlackBerry accessory purchases.

We all know you are here to see what this week's picks are so let's get back to the show shall we. Each app or game can be seen by clicking through the gallery. If your favorite did not make the cut this week, remember you can help by offering your suggestions at the end.

Action Trigger by Matus Faro

Going through the forums I came upon this application that is being tested by the developer. Currently available in BlackBerry World as a free public Beta it essentially allows users to trigger specific actions on their device (hence the name) turning on Bluetooth, setting profiles, customize wallpaper, flashlight, record or play audio, take a photo or video, and even change the Active Frame. Action Trigger has potential in terms of functionality though I agree that the interface is not as intuitive as it should be. As this is a beta, if you experience any bugs or have any suggestions feel free to contact the developer or participate in the forums.

Weight to Go by IWIK

Our next item is a suggestion sent into the roundup. While this may be limited in purpose depending on your line of work or the task at hand, it is an interesting one to say the least. As the name implies, Weight to Go helps to estimate the weight of various materials, including custom ones. Also featured is a volume calculator to help estimate the volume of an object by dimensions and a rigging calculator for lifting. This native application is easy to use and is free to download. For those who find it useful the full version can be unlocked for an in-app purchase of $.99.

Marine Assistant by Marco Gallo.

This week's roundup is chock full of intriguing applications and this next one is no different. Being that I spent last week touring the New York Harbor for a work related dinner, this would have been handy to have that evening. Marine Assistant is a vessel tracking utility. It uses AIS (Automatic Identification System) to display vessel, boat, yacht, military ships, fishing ships on the map using colored markers as well as showing speed, position, type and more. Originally released as a beta in BlackBerry Beta Zone, it is now available, with improvements, to buy for $3.99. If you have an interest in all things maritime, especially if you have friends or relatives on a vessel, this is certainly for you. This is a native application using WebWorks and Cascades Plugins and runs smoothly.

Flappy 2048 by anpho

Another suggestion from the roundup is this game by anpho. Why is it so special? The developer describes it as Flappy Bird meets 2048. Honestly, how do I follow that statement? Gameplay is rather simple; you tap on the screen to make the bird fly and if it hits the same number it passes through, otherwise the journey comes to an end. This certainly isn't an east task when you consider that after a while the pillars start moving vertically and you have to navigate to the matching number. It's fun, a great time waster, and works on all BlackBerry 10 smartphones. Best of all it is free to download.
