BlackBerry App Roundup for June 19th, 2009! By James Falconer | 19 Jun 2009 02:58 | Happy Friday all! Another busy week has come and gone, and it's time to chill out a bit with some new and notable BlackBerry Apps. I hope you enjoy this weeks' edition of the BlackBerry App Roundup. Covered this week are the following titles: New This Week: Girls Gone Mobile, Expense Manager, Bubble Gun, Formula 1 Theme for the Storm, Craigslist Launcher for the 83xx Series In Case You Missed It: LegiText from LegiTime, Gym Technik for the Storm, Wordsearch for the Storm, BlackBerry Desktop Manager 5.0.0.8
Apps on Sale: BerryLabyrinth, Tip Calculator, PhoneLog, Aces Solitaire Pack Cool at BlackBerry App World: Ticketmaster for BlackBerry Freebies of the Week: WHERE
Note: Don't forget, you can always search for titles featured in the App Roundup within App World... Some apps mentioned may be available there for your device. New This Week This isn't the most 'wholesome' title you'll ever find... But if you want to spice up your Berry with a few 'Girls Gone Mobile' then you may want to give this one a gander more than once. Girls Gone Mobile is a wallpaper app that features new pictures every month. New images download to your Berry's memory for future reference. Inside you'll find over 20 categories with over 15 women in each category. For more details, check out Girls Gone Mobile. Alternatively, I suggest you checkout our Wallpaper Gallery. Tons of goodness in there for your BlackBerry device, no matter what model it happens to be.
Need a utility on your BlackBerry to help you manage and track expenses? Expense Manager helps you do this quickly and easily. Adding new expenses is quick, and you can enter information for each item for date, description, payment currency, amount paid, exchange rate, amount, payment method and category. There's even a reporting section that lets you create customized expense reports. Create the reports in CSV format for integration with Excel spreadsheets. Very handy if you have a ton of monthly expenses and need to generate a report for 'the boss'. There are many more features built-in to this one... So if this sounds like something you may need, go ahead and check it out. Expense Manager is available in two versions. One for all non-touchscreen Berry's running OS 4.1 or newer... and another version for the BlackBerry Storm.
Bubble Gun is a fun new game available for the 7100, 7200, 7500, 7700, Pearl, 8700 and 8800 series (I know... strange... a lot of 7xxx love here!). The object of the game is to match up 3 or more balls of the same color, a la the classic 'bust-a-move' arcade game. Play the game in puzzle mode, where you try to complete levels before you run out of time... or play in normal mode to play for high scores. For more information check out Bubble Gun at ShopCrackBerry.
I'm a huge Formula 1 fan. Anytime there's anything even remotely related to the sport I'll take notice. Case in point this week, a new Formula 1 theme for the BlackBerry Storm. The theme features numerous wallpapers (including a retro-ish Michael Schumacher/Ferrari wallpaper) that give a real F1 feel. You can pick up the Formula 1 Theme for the BlackBerry Storm for $2.29.
If you frequent Craigslist, there's a new Craiglist Launcher for the Curve 83xx series. Use it to quickly launch the Craigslist website right from your Curve's desktop. The launcher features the familiar Craigslist 'Peace' icon. This one is on sale for $1.00 until June 26th. Curve owners, it's time to get your Craigslist on!
In Case You Missed It...
Just in case you missed these titles, below are some apps that were
LegiTime has launched a product suite that allows SMS messages to be treated the same as emails in any business/enterprise setup. LegiText allows the storing and archiving of SMS messages... Plus the ability to remotely disable a lost or stolen device while retaining all stored info. Handy for sure, as Enterprise users will be able to backup SMS messages for reference at a later time. Key features:
More information is available at www.legitimetechnologies.com. Pricing varies, but a 30-day trial is available.
Gym Technik have revamped their popular software for better use and performance on the BlackBerry Storm. Gym Technik is a free tool that lets you use your Berry as a workout journal while at the gym. To get started, you can sign up for your free account here or head on over to www.gymtechnik.com for more information. You can view all supported handsets right here. Lots of BlackBerry love from the folks at Gym Technik!
Yet another new game available for the Storm. This time, puzzle-lovers will enjoy Wordsearch from Tafasa. The game is pretty much self-explanitory. Play the game that comes jam packed with over 2700 words and 15 categories. Trace your finger over the letters to select, and if the word is in your list, it'll highlight to grey. Simple. And fun. Check out Wordsearch for the Storm at ShopCrackBerry.
BlackBerry Desktop Manager 5.0.0.8
Earlier in the week an unofficial version of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager was found (version 5.0.0.8). You may want to hold off on install as this is very unofficial, but if you do install be sure to let us know what you think. The download comes in at over 300MB (it's a biggie), and you can download it right here.

Cool at BlackBerry App World Ticketmaster for BlackBerry
In case you didn't know or haven't heard of the Ticketmaster app for BlackBerry yet, I highly suggest you check it out. I'm not a big concert goer, but I do find myself using this one to pull up tickets to the next big hockey game (I really am Canadian, eh?), and the TicketMaster app works beautifully. The only downer within is all the legal mumbo jumbo you have to scroll through. Other than that, the Ticketmaster app is a great way to check upcoming events, browse available seating, and in the end, purchase your tickets. The Ticketmaster app is available for free right now in BlackBerry App World.
Freebie of the Week I'm not even sure where to begin with WHERE. The app does all sorts of cool things using the GPS built-in to your BlackBerry. Use it to find restaurants, coffee, cheap gas, browse pictures taken near you, search the Yellow Pages, check the weather... and the list goes on. Oh yeah, you can use it to find movie showtimes at theatres near you as well. This is one you've really got to install and play with for yourself. You'll probably find one or two features that win your approval. WHERE is available for the BlackBerry Bold, Curve 8900 and Storm. Check it out right here.
Until Next Week..

nice apps
Thanks for doing such a great job on App round up. I look forward to Fridays just because of this..even the Fridays when I work all weekend...
Love the apps!
Thanks for sharing!
WHERE seems interesting...and it's one of the only free ones (if not the only free thing) listed here so I'm going to check it out.
I know I know, I sound like a complete cheap-ass (which I am, btw. college student ftw woohoo!) but come on, almost no bb apps seem to be free...QuickLaunch was a great low price especially for the amount of usefulness it has, so I was fine with that and a couple others I was okay with because they were quite low ($3 or less) but all of these begin adding up to a LOT over time, you know?
