Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday so far and getting ready for the weekend. It's time once again for the weekly App Roundup. Now I spent my time wisely this week rustling up some new, cool, and helpful applications for all you BlackBerry addicts to try. Be sure to check them out and remember you can help by offering your suggestions at the end.

BProfile by TMC Devs

Going through the forums this week I came across this profile creating application. What sets it apart from others is that it allows you to place the BlackBerry 10 style text block, used in their BB 10 ads from last year, into your image. This way you can recreate those ads and create profile pictures or avatars for Twitter, Facebook, BBM or other applications in that recognizable style. Included in this application are five color backgrounds, the option to insert pre-installed BlackBerry symbols, and the ability to move them around the preview box before saving. Images are saved at 500x500 so you won’t have to worry about resizing for your various social networks. BProfile supports BlackBerry 10 and is free to download.

BlackJack by Dumadu Games Pvt Ltd

Card games are a great way to pass the time and this one certainly does not disappoint. The animations are smooth, the graphics are decent and you can track your stats. There are various tables to join ranging from low cash bets to the break the bank high roller ones with an in-app purchase option available to buy additional chips. However, you are only playing against the game itself and not with other participants. Whether you want to double down, surrender or split, it offers seamless play and hours of fun. You can grab this for free at the link for BlackBerry 10 and the PlayBook.

FidMe by Snapp

With all of the loyalty cards in my possession I always love trying out all of the different apps available for BlackBerry users. FidMe may be an Android port for BlackBerry 10 but it works rather well. It is your mobile wallet for all of your store cards. This application allows you to find and display them as well as syncing with your online FidMe account so they are never lost. With supporting stores you can even keep track of your stamps as well (i.e. Buy 10 get the next one free cards). Adding cards is easy and you can do it manually or by scanning the barcode. There is also an option to bring up the map and discover the closest stores in your area based on your specific cards. FidMe is free to download for BlackBerry 10, the BlackBerry PlayBook, and most legacy BBOS devices.

Pirate Frenzy & Pirate Frenzy Free by Ajani InfoTech Private Limited

Ahoy he mateys. If you are looking for a seafaring game that is a quick way to pass the time then you've come to the right place. Your goal is to help the pirate in balancing the canon balls and place them into pipes on the ship. Difficulty and pipe sizes vary but it offers a straightforward and simple UI and unlimited levels. What I like about this game is that it supports most BBOS devices running OS 4.6 and higher, the BlackBerry PlayBook and all BlackBerry 10 handsets. There is a premium version for $.99 available and a free limited version you can try no matter which device you own.

What You Might Have Missed

UNO by Gameloft

While UNO has been around on the BlackBerry platform for some time, this week James took a hands on look at the version for BlackBerry 10. For those of us who grew up on the classic card game, the digital version is impressive and challenging in its own right. The graphics are eye catching, the transitions are smooth, and if you add in the background sounds it all comes together in one can't miss game no matter which device you own. Whether you play solo or in multi-player mode there is no denying this is one game that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Be sure to check it out in all its various incarnations at the links below for $.99.

Which app leaves the display on for as long as the phone is hooked up to a charger?

I have read the Z30 display may have burn in issues if you keep the screen on for long periods of time. Not sure how long it would take but if you have one then make sure you research it before you try to keep the screen on for long periods of time.

Unless this is a Z30 or BB screen technology related issue, I can't think of a period long enough that would lead to a burn in effect. Sure, theoretically there may be a risk after dozens of hours but c'mon.. A failsafe function could turn display off after a unreasonably long period of time. But think of GPS the display doesn't turn off on and that should never be an issue for the display. So what I'm asking for is an option that enables this regardless of the program, but controlled by the charger. One application could be streaming music while having your device hooked up to your car stereo (and charger).

RootingForRIM

I am looking for this exact same functionality. I wish the Music app had this as a built-in option, but failing that would gladly purchase an app to get it.

@naziem13 ... if you have Snap loaded, search for Wifi analyzer. The one I use is by faproc and has a graph with all of the access points available as well as a real signal strength meter for individual access points. Works very well.
