Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday so far and getting ready for the weekend. Not only is it time once again for the weekly App Roundup but it is also Valentine's Day so I hope you all enjoy your weekend. Now I spent my time wisely this week rustling up some new, cool, and helpful applications for all you BlackBerry addicts to try. Be sure to check them out and remember you can help by offering your suggestions at the end.

Screen Timeout by Adrian-Liviu Serbanescu

One of the ways in which to save battery life on your BlackBerry is setting the screen timeout. There are several durations available that range from 10 seconds up to 5 minutes. However, for those times you would like to set a different period or perhaps leave it off in case you are using your GPS, there is Screen Timeout. This simple Android port allows users to keep their screen awake for as long or as little as needed. Upon loading, you only need to select the wake interval, unlimited or limited, and if the latter enter in the duration at the prompt, then press the start button at the bottom. It’s that easy.  While this must remain open as an active frame to function, it supports BlackBerry 10 and can be purchased for $.99.

Love is Simple FREE theme by BBFreaks

Today is Valentine’s Day and how could I not include an application to help celebrate. Themes are near and dear to my heart and this lovely one is sure to make a statement on your compatible BlackBerry device. Customized from top to bottom, this wallpaper friendly design fills your entire screen with it's cute icon set, red highlights and colors, fixed wallpaper framing effect, and skinned folder, compass and media player backgrounds. Not only does it feature beautiful graphics to brighten your display but it is free to download. As with all their themes, it is fully compatible with all OS 6 and higher devices as well as the Curve 8520/30.

PackPoint by Wawwo

When you are planning a trip, being able to pack the essentials is not always an easy task. To make the process a little bit easier there is this handy utility tool. It will help you prepare the packing list for you. There are a variety of factors it takes into account when populating the list such as activities, type of trip (business or leisure), weather, access to laundry, as well as the basics such as extra batteries, wallet, toothbrush, etc. This free application comes with an easy to use and read interface and is perfect for frequent fliers. Available for BlackBerry 10 it doesn’t hurt to give it a try to ameliorate those packing woes.

Royal Solitaire by Maciej Franecki

For anyone who loves solitaire this next offering should do the trick. Included in this application are Spider solitaire and Klondike solitaire with two game variants. The games themselves are self-explanatory, however, the application offers decent animations, unlimited undo, sound effects, and random backgrounds. Initially free to download, unlocking the full premium version requires an in-app purchase of $1.99. The premium features include the ability to save your progress, online challenges, and auto-complete. It supports BlackBerry 10 and is free to download.

Lil Painter Free by Tapptil

Designed for kids of all ages, this interactive coloring book is an amazing application. There are a variety of illustrations to choose from and even without adding your own color scheme they are gorgeous to look at. While the free version offers a limited number to get you started, additional packs are available via an in-app purchase. There are several tools available to paint your scenes including crayon, paintbrush, spray or chalk. This app has everything: great graphics, smooth transitions, and the option to save to your photo gallery to share with your friends, family and followers. Available for the BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry 10, it is certainly a source of hours of colorful and creative fun.

What You Might Have Missed

Tilt by ReFocus Labs

Tilt has finally on BlackBerry 10 and it is beautiful. This personal assistant offers an interactive experience that gives you all the information about the world around you right at your fingertips. Content is arranged by context, meaning you see the most important information when you need it. The interface is easy to read due to the colorful tiles that adjust as you tilt. Users can view notes, weather, news, calendar, battery and foursquare locations. It performs well on BlackBerry 10 and is $1.99 to purchase.

Can anyone tell me what guard is on the z10 at the top of the page and is it available in the store? Am on my way there to see if i find it!

I wished the Screen Timeout program worked on my PlayBook. It would be so nice to leave it in the dock with the screen on all the time...

BerryRipe

Amen to that! I have wanted the same thing so that I could use my pb as a clock.

Hi, I'm the developer of Lil Painter, thanks for all the good things written about my app. It is nice to see that people appreciate the work of bb developers. I enjoy using all the apps from here!

Packpoint seems cool but it would be nice if it was native and linked with BlackBerry travel then it would have an idea what you need from the start. (Maybe BlackBerry just needs to add this feature to BlackBerry travel. )
