BlackBerry Developers Conference Registration Now Open

The BlackBerry Developers Conference is open for early registrations! I know many a developer reads the weekly roundup, so I only felt it fitting to include it at the top. This years' conference will take place November 9-12 in San Fran. There's going to be a lot to see and do... and a lot of industry contacts to meet and greet... and have a few drinks with :)

Note: If you register before September 18th, you'll save $200. PLUS, if you attended either WES 2009 or last years dev con, you'll get an extra $100 off!

The Student Starter Pack

It's time for students around the world to start prepping for the upcoming school year. With that in mind, the folks at studentstarterpack.com have a new Student Starter Pack up for grabs. TipCalc

New from ToySoft, TipCalc is one of the best looking and feature rich tip calculators I've seen for BlackBerry to date. Use it to calculate tips of any %, split bills any which way you choose, see what tip totals are for each person at your table... The list of features goes on and on. LaunchPad

New from Tafasa, LaunchPad is an awesome little app that lets you create a launcher for any and all of your website favorites! It works quite simply. Enter the name and address of the website you want to create a launcher for, and choose an icon (the app will try and locate a favicon) from your Berry. Super easy... and kind of handy.

Note: In order to run this one you'll need at least OS 4.6.

You can pick up LaunchPad for $0.99 until August 15th. After that, the price jumps up to $1.99.

Ubertwitter Beta 4 Now Available

For all the Twitter-eens out there, Ubertwitter Beta 4 is now available. The very popular Twitter client for BlackBerry now includes multiple account support, faster photo uploads, and the ability to block users, among other things.

PhotoColor!

Want to create some awesome looking pictures right from your BlackBerry? Enter PhotoColor! PhotoColor allows you to create great looking pictures in two easy steps. First, your image is converted to black and white. Then, all you need to do is restore color to the original image by touching the screen wherever you want. You can see an example in the image above, I think it illustrates how this one works. Pretty clear, right? Of course, this one is available for the Storm only.

It's time to help 'Chippy' the Chipmunk collect as much food as he can for the winter. As you go through the game you have to collect more and more nuts to stay in it... The game features 25 days/levels that get progressively harder as you go... and make sure to watch out for the evil beaver who tries to steal your food! EasyTether Mac Edition

EasyTether turns your BlackBerry into an internet access point for any Mac... without any costly tethering data plans. It works just fine with Mac OS X Leopard, Snow Leopard and Tiger. Didiom has just released their award-winning app in App World (in fact, I believe it was late last week). Best of all, it's free! If you're unfamiliar with Didiom, it allows you to, and I quote:

'...stream songs, playlists, podcasts, and audiobooks from their home computer to their phone over the air, and also to buy new music and audiobooks from Didiom's Mobile MP3 Store.'

Very cool. I think this is one we should all give a go, no? At the moment Didiom is available for the Tour, Bold, Curve, Pearl and 8800 series (sorry Storm-ies). All new users will also receive 25 free, pre-selected songs ready for download to their home systems (Mac or PC).

ProOnGo Expense with Receipt Reader

If you need to keep track of expenses and receipts, ProOnGo Expense to capture everything you need, right on your BlackBerry. How do you do it? Entry is as easy as taking a picture of a receipt. The app does all the 'heavy lifting' and enters expense data from the images. Snap, Save, Submit!

Expense reports can be output and emailed as Excel, XML and CSV formats among others. Some new features in this one include QuickBooks Online integration, Mileage tracking, currency and exchange rate support, and much more.

ProOnGo is available for the Storm and all current Berry models... and should work well on older Berry's as well, as long as they're running at least OS 4.5. To pick it up for free hit up the ShopCrackBerry Store.
