Howdy all, it's time once again for the weekly App Roundup. Now I spent my time wisely this week rustling up some new, cool, and helpful applications for all you BlackBerry addicts to try. Be sure to check them out by clicking through the gallery below and remember you can help by offering your suggestions at the end.

Privacy Suite Pro by Runisoft

When it comes to protecting my device, I don't always password protect it. Not that I have anything top secret or confidential it's just that there are conversations and files which should remain hidden. Privacy Suite Pro is an all-in-one application for BlackBerry 10 to ensure that your files, folders, contacts, notes, photos, videos, passwords and browser data remain hidden. This nice looking application secures your mobile device right from within the application as it has a dedicated section for each function. Users can send/receive private SMS (removes from Hub) store private contacts, input their passwords into the vault, record photos and videos, and view websites with the private browser. There is even a fake password feature so that if someone else tries to access it will open to a different interface. In terms of permissions it asks for access to various phone permissions (Phone, Contacts, Text, etc) and Shared Files to function properly. For $2.99, this full-featured application offers functionality usually reserved for multiple applications.

Blue Nano Racing by Marco Gallo

As a fan of racing games I couldn't help but give this a try after seeing the request from last week's roundup. It is gamepad compatible but nothing prepares you for how great this looks and plays on your device. The futuristic graphics are smooth, high quality, and pop on your display (it is powered by Unity after all). I don't always have enough free time to devote to gaming but I must say this one is quite enjoyable and even has two player support. You can't go wrong for $1.99, though there is a free lite version available to check out first for BlackBerry 10.

WinZip by WinZip Computing

Let me first say that I am aware that BlackBerry 10 has a built-in option for compressing multiple items into a zip file and for opening them. That being said, it would remiss of me not to at least mention that this utility application officially landed in BlackBerry World this week, albeit as an Android port. Performance on this application is decent and seeing that it is free to download (with ads), it is no harm no foul as they say. The application requires access to Device Identifying information and Shared Files so that you can open, save zip, and export the archives to your device or media card.

HD Themes by Ajani InfoTech Private Limited

If there is one feature I cannot get over losing on BlackBerry 10, it is the ability to theme and customize the display. Ajani InfoTech decided to release their own application to help change things up a bit on your screen. This freemium application offers high quality backgrounds with additional packs available for $.99 each or you can purchase the full version for $2.99. Users can modify not only the wallpaper and the icon frames but the color of the top and bottom bar as well. The application itself runs smooth and all changes apply instantly. In terms of selection there are quite a few included in the free version if you want to check out before purchasing. Being able to clear changes is as simple as putting back one of your personal backgrounds.

Updatein Places by Updatein Labs

If you are looking for a navigation application to locate nearby restaurants, banks, shopping malls, ATM's, pubs, hotels, or cinemas, then be sure to try this free native option for BlackBerry 10. Included is a global search for businesses, view address and opening hours, obtain directions, share details via the BlackBerry framework, and directly call the venue. Whether you are lost or just searching for the nearest gas station, it doesn't hurt to give it a try.

What You Might Have Missed

Snap2Chat by Nemory Studios

The big news this week was the release of the official release of Snap2Chat in BlackBerry World. For those who wanted a native solution to using the social photo messaging service you can find it on sale for only $.99 (regular $1.99). Not only has the developer replicated the features found on other platforms but included capabilities specific to BlackBerry 10 for an overall great experience. Nemory worked hard to create a full-featured SnapChat application and you can grab it at the link.
