Howdy all, it's time once again for the weekly App Roundup. Now I spent my time wisely this week rustling up some new, cool, and helpful applications for all you BlackBerry addicts to try. Be sure to check them out by clicking through the gallery below and remember you can help by offering your suggestions at the end.

Spider-Man: Ultimate Power by Gameloft

With the sequel to the Amazing Spider-Man due to hit theaters in a few weeks it was only a matter of time before Gameloft unleashed their own new adventure. In this latest installment, Mary Jane has been kidnapped by the Green Goblin, Sandman, and Venom. Your mission is to swing and web-sling your way through the streets and rooftops of New York to rescue her and the city. As you take out each villain there are in-app purchases to acquire power-ups, abilities, and resources to help you as you advance through the levels. However, coins are also earned during the course of gameplay. The only thing to get used to is the on-screen controls. Are you up for the challenge? This free game is compatible with most legacy devices running OS 5 and higher.

Ski Tracks by Core Coders Ltd

I may not be a skier, though with all the snowstorms in the Northeast this past winter I probably should have learned. This popular cross-platform application is now available on BlackBerry 10. Though it is an Android port, if you happen to make your way to the slopes (it's still ski season in Colorado and other locations) then this application helps you record the entire day. It can track without the need for a cellular data or phone signal, offers comprehensive Ski Stats and Profile Graphs, overlays your day onto a map, adds photographs to track, records in km/h or mph units, and analyzes individual ski runs and lifts. Ski Tracks is $1.99 and compatible with all BlackBerry 10 devices. In order to track your data and location and store your history and photos it asks for permission to access your Device, Location, and Shared Files.

QuickTape by DHabkirkDesigns

Our next selection comes courtesy of theme developer who was no stranger to the roundup. This time he brings us a simple yet useful application for quickly recording phone calls, voice notes, or anything else you need. For best results, it is recommended that calls be switched to speakerphone in order to record. Users can play, pause, record, and access recordings all from within the application. This application supports BlackBerry 10 and is $.99 to purchase. QuickTape asks users to allow access to the Microphone permissions when installed so that it can record your conversations.

GeoAlarm by dallagi

Another reader suggestion this week is a rather interesting concept. As someone who rides the train to and from work I tend to nod off occasionally. There has been a time or two when I have just barely woken up in time for my stop. GeoAlarm aims to wake you when you get to your destination using your GPS by letting users select their stop on the map and activate the alarm. While, of course, this will not work underground, it certainly doesn't hurt to give it try. It is after all free to download for BlackBerry 10. The only permission this asks for is your location to determine where you are via your BlackBerry's GPS.

PhotoFonty (Beta) by Mossa210

Going through the forums, I spied this fun photo application. It allows you to add stickers and text to your images. It is easy to use and all changes are applied quickly without any lag. For the text, users are able to modify the font, color, size, alignment, opacity, rotation, and insert smiles. As respects the stickers you can adjust the color, size, opacity or rotation. It does let you use the native photo editor to modify your image before making changes. Initially free to download, to unlock the full version there is an in-app purchase of $.99. As it accesses the pictures on your SD card or device and saves changes as well it does ask for the Shared Files permission in order to operate. The only drawback for now is that it is only compatible with BlackBerry 10 QWERTY devices, the Q5 and Q10, though the version for the Z series is coming.

What You Might Have Missed

ID3IOT by Scott B. Birksted

For all the audiophiles out there who store their music library on their device, there is nothing like cleaning up your audio tags. Using the main application view you can find tags with missing Artist and Album info or search your music library for specific songs to edit. If you upgrade to Pro mode it allows you to edit multiple tags at once and edit album cover art. Instead of making all the changes on your PC, now you can do it directly on your BlackBerry device. This application does ask for Shared Files permissions but this is necessary so that it can save the changes to your audio files. Free to download for BlackBerry 10, there is an $.99 in-app purchase to upgrade to the pro version.
