BlackBerry 10.2 begins rolling out in Singapore

Over the past few hours there has been a steady stream of folks reporting that BlackBerry 10.2 has been showing up on BlackBerry Q10 and Z10 devices in Singapore for those making use of SingTel. The OS folks are seeing is arriving as software version 10.2.0.415 with the underlying OS being that of 10.2.0.1767.

The update has been confirmed by BlackBerry and is coming in around 117MB but of course, that's variable depending on your device. If you're looking for a full run down of what's new and available in BlackBerry 10.2, we've put together an exhaustive listed for you all.

There's still no mention of when BlackBerry 10.2 will be making its way out to other regions but we're approaching the previously noted timeframe, and it having now started to show up in Singapore is a good sign it's making its way through carrier processes.

Also of note, this particular OS has already leaked. So, you can either wait for the official release to roll out to the masses or you can just download the leak. I'm just saying.

It's good that CB 'readers' always diligently double check... it's like a customs and immigration officer at the border/airport, they keep asking you the same thing differently just to make sure you keep the story straight and aren't hiding something.

Lol, honestly the American border guards are the worst. God forbid you have a Muslim name.

Z10 posted

The American border guards let a dangerous sex offender who cut off his ankle monitor cross over from Canada. He's American too by the way.

Although we are getting off topic here, that is a bad one. Even with knowledge of what that sicko has been doing to innocent, and at risk, young children and elderly, the US police are saying they won't do anything since he hasn't done anything down there...yet.

Discriminate against Muslims? That's cold :P

"If you can't soar with the eagles, then don't fly with the flock!" (BBM#18)

How about in forums when the same "Is runtime unlocked? Will this work on the STL-1?" questions are asked ad nauseum...are folks just double checking there too?

He is being sarcastic about US carriers being always late to update BB OS, too bad you can't see that..

Posted via CB10

Doesn't matter. Let it be.
Most of us have had 10.2.x for weeks now (LOL).

Say, anyone know what the 'official version' has over the latest leak?

Actually it will be oct 22nd in France, it was announced by carrier SFR a few days ago, with 10.2.0.1791. That makes one region where there was a mention of a roll out date

Posted via CB10

Oh really ? what about off contract Q10 ? (in my case). Am in France on ORANGE, and no news about an update !

If the update is newer than the OS on your phone, it will. If your OS is newer than the release, it won't.

Sounds like RIM needs to do a better job of cozying up to the carriers 'sack'... right B1aze?

That's what you meant right?

Posted via CB10

Haha. Will take more than a name change to fix this company. They act like RIM always has.

Next I'll hear about how I don't need apps using RIM devices and that everyone else is sheep. And that I should move on. Chuckle. Prosumers. Mobile Computing. QNX that can scale to everything but the PlayBook. RIM is providing all sorts of quality expensive entertainment.

Posted via CB10

Chuckle.

I'll simplify the message then. As per Bla1ze's original post: there is only enough room on the carriers' sack for the top 3 OS. RIM ... oh, sorry... 'BlackBerry' ... is in 4th place and is therefore irrelevant to the carriers. And to their 'sack'.

Posted via CB10

+1000! iwasspartacus is just regurgitating all of the drivel he has read in the forums when people try to explain why "apps are not important" or that iPhone users are "sheep" or that QNX is the cats a**, or...blah, blah, blah. Stop pretending you don't know what he's talking about - you look just as bad as the people who ask questions about things that were answered in the article.

QNX can scale to the PlayBook. Actually, the PlayBook has been QNX from the start. The PlayBook can't perform reliably on BlackBerry 10. There is a difference. Scalability doesn't speak to reliability. Scalability speaks to adaptation to the environment (resolution, peripherals etc.) but the hardware platform still has to meet the basic requirements for reliability.

Posted via CB10

It's more like BB10 won't perform reliably on the PlayBook. BB10 is a suite of processes as PB2.1 is a suite. The former requires more RAM to run smoothly than the PlayBook has. That said, the PlayBook OS is more refined in some ways than BB10. The "Hub" is a RAM hog.

Wow a hater let go man next your going to say i should sell my 4 Krell KSA300S for a integrated Sony! My MBP is to my work what my BB is to me in mobile . A no Bull $h!t workhorse. I go with works best for me!

HA!!! BLAZE!!!!!!!!! Killing'm!!!!! I agree with you completely. The treat iPhone as if it's the best thing since slice bread. I'm rock'n BlackBerry until the wheels fall off.

Posted via CB10

+1. CB needs to test this by releasing an article with a misleading title, and body text making people look bad if they get excited.

Posted via CB10

just because the title says singapore doesn't mean it's only singapore it could be other places too but in this case it was just singapore. And I I just read 10.2 tbh lol then the post then checked my software update.

Posted via CB10

Hope its not going to take forever for Philippine BB10 loyalists to get this upgrade

Z10 STL100-2 10.1.0.4181

You can always try leaked version. I'm using 10.2.0.1743 on my z10. I'm a globe postpaid subscriber. Seems to work well so far.

Oh boy, here comes the long wait for us Verizon users. And yes I know we can opt out and do leaks, but I'm not a fan of it.

Posted via CB10 on my Verizon Z10

At this point you could use something like Sachesi to install the official version from a carrier that's already released it. It's still the same process, but you're still running officially released software.

(also my auto correct corrected a misspell to "Sachesi ", but it's still got a squiggly red line. Weird.)

"In vino veritas, in aqua sanitas."

The autocorrect uses a dictionary that changes as it adapts to your typing habits. The spell-check uses a set dictionary, and you can only add words to it manually by tapping it and clicking "Add to dictionary".

Posted via CB10

Can you explain me how. I want to do that since in my country do not sell blackberry and I imported mine

Posted via CB10

If you don't get the update OTA (over the air) from your carrier then you should connect your phone to your pc and update it using Link, the desktop app.

This one has already been leaked? So it will still entail some bugs here or there?

Would some of the other leaked versions be better to run? Hmmm...

Posted via CB10

Already have 10.2 on the Z30. Probably won't even turn the Z10 on to get the update.

Posted Via my Z-30

I'm waiting for the release of the OS to decide if I want to buy the Z30. It hasn't released yet for T-Mobile yet.

Posted via CB10

Yeah, I'm also sporting the Zed30 with 10.2... One word, AWESOME!! I was in love with my Zed10, but now it's all over and my kids will be getting the Zed10..

Posted from my NEW Zed30 via CB10, follow my channel C00121C1B

Might be excited if it was later version then the latest leak. What I'm interesting is that maybe the led apps will be able to run in the background like the old days.

“There's still no mention of when BlackBerry 10.2 will be making its way out to other regions but we're approaching the previously noted timeframe, and it having now started to show up in Singapore is a good sign it's making its way through carrier processes.”

Just checked. It is available here in Singapore via Starhub as well. Will download it tonight.

Posted via CB10

Bell in Canada won't even hint when they're dropping 10.2. Sounds like she didn't even know about the update. Anticipation is killing me!!!!!!!

Posted via CB10

I've tried the leaked version of. 1767, and I feel it's the most stable out of the other leaks I've tried (.1743, .1791), except for the issue I was having with the flash player. Hopefully all the kinks have been ironed out once this is officially launched across all regions.

STL 100-2 | back to 10.1.0.1481 (because the flash player in 10.2 is busted)

We waiting down here in South Africa... fingers crossed that we ain't gonna have to wait like USA :D

Posted via CB10

What were the bugs? Another poster has said Flash Player didn't work.

Presumably the official version will be better/different from the unofficial, earlier release of the same #??? (I do hope so!)

Posted via CB10 with my Z10

Come on AT&T..get off of your thumbs and get OS10.2 tested and released to your loyal BBRY customers soon.........like before 10.3 is official and 10.4 leaks are released...especially considering I haven't seen the 10.1MR and it has been available for what 3 months now? Just sayin'

Posted via CB10

I'm patently waiting on rogers for 10.2 for my Z10 or maybe they will launch the Z30 first

Posted via CB10

Hmm, if I've installed a beta 10.2, will the server determine that I require an update? Even though my release number my be greater?

Hmmmm,....

10

So if your already ready running.1767 then i'll have to down grade and the reinstall is that correct?? or are carriers getting different build pending on the Carrier?? I'm in the Dominican Republic so most likely we will get the same version India is getting. Worst case scenario what's my best option?

They Type... I Flick (get it).

I'm not 100% but if the device already has 1767 installed and your carrier is releasing the same build then the device won't be notified for an OTA update. Perhaps your carrier may be testing a higher build on their networks.

The minute I saw this announcement I rushed to the kitchen and started gulping down handfuls of vitamins and preservatives. I am determined to live past 100 years old so I can be here for the official Verizon release. Now where are my running shoes...

Posted via CB10 with *Z* BEST!

I'm in Singapore using Singtel, but I don't check the update prompt when I check the software updates over my Q10 :/

1761 is my favorite, and I've tried 1767, 1791, and the latest 10.2.1 leak. 1761 seems the most stable for the feature set to me.

Posted via CB10

This just in os 10.2 coming to north America some time between never and ever! So hole your breath until you suffocate. So yes Canada and America we will be getting it last since we don't use BlackBerry over here as much is Europe and south America. Even though rim. Cough. Sorry I mean BlackBerry!!! Is right here in waterloo

Posted via CB10

Blaize. You should have started the article with "let the bitching begin ". Some ppl are never happy. At least now we know it's coming and any further delay is likely the fault of the carrier. Glad to see 10.2 finally released :)

Posted via CB10

Ahhh I hope T-Mobile USA doesn't keep me waiting too long... where can I contact them about this just so they know they have people waiting.

Posted via Q10

10.2 is not quite ready for prime time. I love my leak but it still lags, especially when selecting contacts for a text or email. 10.1.0.4543 was much smoother for me.

Posted via CB10

pardon my ignorance and if it's been answered before, but is there a difference between a leaked OS and when same OS goes "official"?

Not able to see the update here in India, probably because I'm running 1791 leak...

Posted via the awesome keyboard on Z10STL100-1/10.2.0.1791 using CB10 App

No what are you talking about there are 10.2.1.xxx leaks out already almost every week

CB10 - Z10 -10.2.0.1725

No they shouldn't, because that is still branch development. When it's more stable or deemed ready, it will make its way to the main development line.

Posted via CB10

Awesome news! Now, my countdown begins for Verizon to release the update in the USA.

Tick tick 1, tick tick 2, tick tick 3,.... :-).

BBQ10

And it started rolling out in Indonesia as well.... so it's creeping it's way in westward to Europe then finally here to America?

Posted via CB10

BlackBerry like all my ex's your making it hard for me to love you. But I'm holding on

Posted via CB10

Can a install this leak if I own a Z10 STL-100-1???? Or I'm just doom and never fina be able to upgrade my os?? I had read in several forums that the owners of STL100-1 like me we will have just to wait, but I haven't heard anything for us!!!
So pls if I had pass through some post of the 10.2 OS for the owners of Z10 STL100-1 Plsssssss let me known and give me the link!!!!
Thanks!!!

Just be glad gfonduer answered you, and Bla1ze didn’t have to blast someone AGAIN!

Posted via CB10

Is it? Using it now and it's doing grand

Though I have to say the battery life isn't as good as 10.1s.

From my smokin' Barbeque10

Does anyone know if the Netflix and Instagram that I side-loaded without a debug token (cause I still can't get my #$?$## debug token to generate) onto 10.1 will also work on 10.2?

If not I might pass until an unlocked runtime comes along as I hate to lose a working Netflix.

Posted via CB10

How about Indo Telkomsel? All device or some device type (BlackBerry 10). And when.

Posted via CB10

The update roll out should start at its home country. Hehehe. Good to know it is rolling out though. Can't wait.

Posted via CB10

variable around 117MB only? Is that between the leak and official or 10.1 and 10.2? I didn't get another thing, will USB Host be supported on Z10 or only the Z30?

Posted via ZCB10

Dude, there are lots of BlackBerry 10 customers all over the world.. and we are not a developing country.. go read a newspaper or something. I, for one, am glad that my country is getting this update first as opposed to waiting quite a while like the previous updates.

Posted via CB10

Woo Singapore! The first for once to get BlackBerry 10 updates! Waiting in StarHub!

Posted via CB10

Think I'll wait for official 10.2.1...of course I will probably have leak of that one phone before this one is released here (and I'm already on the leak anyway).

Hi , Im currently running the 10.2.0.1521 Leaked ! on the STL-001
Do i need to downgrade to be able to install the Official ?
Please help !

No. You will not need to downgrade. You will need to update when it's available in your country. Cheers.

Posted via CB10 via Z10

Please Verizon, do something before the other carriers for a change. Why are you last to get everything.

Posted via BlackBerry Z10

M not a fan of leaks (little afraid to load them)... BlackBerry should at least release the OS simultaneously for all...

Posted via CB10

Bugger - Optus, wholly owned by Singtel, say they have no clue when the update is coming to Australia :(

From Facebook:
Dillan: Just wondering when 10.2 update for BlackBerry is coming? Thanks!

Optus: Hey Dillan, no info on this at this stage, ...

Really looking forward to this in the UK.

Feels like ages since announced.

Hoping EE/ Orange roll out unilaterally.

Posted via CB10

Be interesting to get feedback on how this works on the Q10 and Q5, particularly the Q5 with slightly less capacity.

Posted via CB10

You'll receive a notification on your device that a software update is available. It will download and install straight to your phone.

I check the software update, hoping to see the update notification. Alas I see nothing :(

Posted with a red Q5!

What's the carrier code to try it in Sachesi? I don't see any SingTel update (if I use one from the table on Wikipedia)...

Ok, updated - download Sachesi, set the codes to 525 and 5 and you're done ;-). No need to wait for your carries but you'll still get official release. Seems like it works after a few minutes of usage.

Posted via CB10

That will begin this WE to next week...be patient or go leak ;)
10.2.1.575 here.

That's just sad they didn't roul out tyhe 1791 version since it really really improved radio reception...

Not yet, depends on the carrier I guess. Last time I got update after I did full backup.

STL100-2 with M1 SG

Can't wait for Etisalat to release 10.2. We should be getting it in a couple of days.

Posted via CB10

I've seen that the roll out coincides with that of Indonesia many a times. Also happened during the update from 10.0 to 10.1
And it will roll out evenly amongst all carriers in India.

Posted via the awesome keyboard on Z10STL100-1/10.2.0.1791 using CB10 App

What version 10.2 will us in the states get? Anything higher or better than Z10STL100-4/10.2.0.1791 ?

Will the official 10.2 be available for those running a leak?

Posted via CB10

If your leak version is the same or superior, it will not of course!
That's an *update* mecanism, and leaks are way ahead...

Wonder if there's any difference with reliability, battery life etc? I'm using the 1767 leak, and the battery life definitely isn't as good as the old 10.1 official versions...

I actually have to charge my q10 before I go to sleep

From my smokin' Barbeque10

You may give the last .1791 a try, phenomenal radio there and then more batterie capacity since it will not wast ressource searching for signal....

Well we all know how the next couple of days will go.....the "check for update" button is about to get a serious work out....SMILE.

Makes no sense the third world countries get 10.2 first and more and America seems last on the list as always.

Mediocrity just permeates everywhere. Gives a whole new meaning to "LACKberry"... :(
