BlackBerry 10 Last Chance Port-A-Thon takes place January 18th

Just as the title says - this is your last chance to get apps in for BlackBerry 10. The BlackBerry 10 Last Chance Port-A-Thon takes place this Friday, January 18th at noon EST. It's the last time you'll be able to port your BlackBerry 10 apps to ensure they are rocking and rolling for launch. As before, you can earn $100 for each eligible app you submit - but the best part? Now you can submit BlackBerry App Generator apps as well. So if you have a Tumblr, Facebook page or YouTube account you have no excuses. You can use the BlackBerry App Generator to create a BB10 app in no time at all. In the above video Simon runs us through it (check below for another quick tutorial from Demian at RIM).

The last port-a-thon brought in over 15,000 apps - so let's make this one even better! The event runs for 36 hours and you can participate from anywhere you have internet access. Hit up the link below for more details and to register now.

what the hell. Dont get me wrong i love and use Mippin the BlackBerry app Generator. but damm RIM are you serious $100 bucks to have those apps in app world hummm.

I hope to god RIM has really good apps, bad apps and as well as the super apps that everyone wants. I totally understand the reason but hummmm. Just makes me wonder thats all.

Ok everyone lets get to it and make some money.

i wonder how far above 100k they will be due to all these easy ports they will crush expectations with this... but its also not just the count but quality as well they did list they got 90% of the top 600 so dieing to see.

This might sound like a dumb question... If I were planning to have an original app ready for submission ANYWAY, can I use it for this?

Submit your app during the port-athon to qualify that app. Don't submit it yet. I got 25 apps waiting till i can submit them to qualify. Worked up to the last possible chance to have them all ready to go.

Maybe we can get another freebie phone. :)

I both love and hate the idea of the App generator being excepted for the port-a-thon.
On one hand it will boost the app count because they are easy to build RSS Feeder apps.
On the other hand it will wash out a lot of the native build custom apps that some guys and girls have spend hours building, just to have some RSS feed app made in App generator in 15 mins to be chosen to receive the $100 over their app.

But as mentioned above, hopefully the quality/ technicality of the app will be one of the deciding points for the eligibility to receive payment.

Happy Coding all.
