I think they completely forgot about us normal non BB 10 Dev Alpha people. I have been using the Beta 2.1 since it was made available. I am tired of getting this : .....Connect to wifi to send and receive email. Click here to connect...... I am connected to wifi
crwblyth Jul 19, 2012 at 8:49 pm
The beta was for developers, not consumers. Don't blame RIM because you agreed to install an update that could potentially break certain features before official release hits.
bbschorsch Jul 19, 2012 at 9:34 am
and what happens to mac users????
why can't they just push it to our devices???
Rootbrian Jul 19, 2012 at 10:44 am
Those are all virtual pc software, two of which are free, one is open source.
Use them, borrow a windows disk and have it setup for your dev alpha device.
wgtcarlos Jul 19, 2012 at 10:50 am
LOL... bootcamp!?
goku_vegeta Jul 19, 2012 at 9:32 am

"In addition to the BlackBerry 10 developer toolkit updates, RIM is also opening the BlackBerry App WorldTM Vendor Portal for BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha test devices. The portal will now allow developers to target the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha test device for applications, allowing developers with BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha test devices to share and access each other's applications and see what their peers are doing with the platform."
From the forums, http://forums.crackberry.com/blackberry-10-dev-alpha-f270/dev-alpha-os-1...
goku_vegeta Jul 19, 2012 at 9:40 am
For sure, check in the forums for the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha, a lot of us will be posting updates there.
gradyutama Jul 19, 2012 at 9:54 am

MaxxJag Jul 19, 2012 at 9:58 am
Awesome, though I do hope it's more stable. I've had quite a few freezes. Also hope it fixes my debugging issue and that funky message about conformance.
menaknow Jul 19, 2012 at 10:37 am
Crap, and I am at work...
Gotta wait until I get home to update my device :(
MaxxJag Jul 19, 2012 at 10:39 am
Don't feel bad, I have it here and it doesn't give me the update yet.
Detective M Downs Jul 19, 2012 at 3:20 pm

crwblyth Jul 19, 2012 at 10:57 am
I'm at work so cannot update yet. Anything new or is this just a much-needed bugfix?
lonnieo Jul 19, 2012 at 10:59 am
anyone would share the download data for testing the OS10 in playbook? is that allowed?
crwblyth Jul 19, 2012 at 11:27 am
This isn't OS 10. It's just got the number 10. All it is, is the PlayBook OS with cascades support and support for the new resolution. You'd gain next to nothing if you did even manage to get it on your PlayBook.
lonnieo Jul 19, 2012 at 11:31 am
ok, got it. thx for replying!
visiterfromcrackberry Jul 19, 2012 at 12:00 pm
I was gonna say the same thing.
lexs Jul 19, 2012 at 1:13 pm
my DM is still saying "no update available"...
br14 Jul 19, 2012 at 1:32 pm
Me too.
Even after following the repair instructions.
Bluenoser63 Jul 19, 2012 at 2:13 pm
RIM has people looking into the problem of those who can't update the Dev Alpha device.
Appstalavista Jul 19, 2012 at 3:12 pm
I also don't get the update, repair process it doesn't work either.
Skywalker_fakih Jul 19, 2012 at 5:02 pm
i am a beginner , with a 9900 device
what is this update exaclty ??
and who uses it ?
pcguy514 Jul 19, 2012 at 6:34 pm
its not for you but for developers, who have the dev alpha device only....
ddlax22 Jul 19, 2012 at 6:43 pm
Will this work on my 9800????? Or my 9350?? How about my pantech impact? Or my 9900???...my asus?
require Jul 19, 2012 at 8:21 pm
can't update...
Camfella Jul 20, 2012 at 1:59 am
Adam, I don't think you should have bothered to post about the DEV ALPHA DEVICE UPDATE, it seems that some Crackberry readers just don't have a clue! LOL, You've confused them.
Don't feel so bad guys, if you go to http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Testing-and-Deployment/bd-p/Testi... you'll see that Devs are having a hard time downloading the update too!
RIM screwing up as usual!
Bluenoser63 Jul 20, 2012 at 6:17 am
RIM worked non stop to solve the problem and they did within hours of the problem being reported. It was a obscure problem and wasn't serious. Remember, all this was with a beta version of the Desktop Manager and a beta version of the OS. Why do you think it is called a Beta?
konic Jul 20, 2012 at 8:43 am
Still 32- bit?!
Bluenoser63 Jul 20, 2012 at 11:09 am
What?
Parum Jul 20, 2012 at 1:57 pm
To get the update working on a windows PC:
Close Desktop Manger
Navigate to the following key in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\AppLoader (32-bit) or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Research In Motion\AppLoader (64-bit)
Delete the SLSURL entry
Delete the WebSLURL entry.
Start up Desktop Manager
If you're having trouble connecting the Dev Alpha to the computer after doing a reset:
Turn on wifi sharing, Change it from Auto detect to Windows, Turn on Developer Mode
Appstalavista Jul 20, 2012 at 2:21 pm
I used this fix an already have updated my Dev Alpha. Quickly, the only new thing I notice was the AppWorld.
blackiedk Oct 5, 2012 at 9:23 am
Tried all of the above.
The update software stops at "read device system configuration". After a short while it says "There eas an error updating your Software\nThere is no update available"
Any suggestions on how to proceed?
fjmustak Oct 12, 2012 at 9:39 pm
Same here! Keep getting the no update available error message. This is my first time updating, so it's going from 10.0.4.188 to 10.0.9.388 (using Win7 32-bit)
Any ideas of what's going wrong?
