This week has been quite an exciting week for BlackBerry fans with BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 being released, bang on schedule might I add and our very own CrackBerry Kevin also finally got his Porsche Design P'9981 BlackBerry. With things feeling mighty positive in the world of RIM right now, they have also opened up a BlackBerry store in Jakarta, Indonesia along with PT Teletama Artha Mandiri and it will be the biggest store in Asia so far. Last September we saw a BlackBerry lifestyle store open up to big crowds in Thailand, then we saw another one open in Jakarta a couple of months later and it seems Indonesia will end up being a hub of BlackBerry stores.

This latest BlackBerry store will be the biggest yet in Asia and is located in Gandaria City L1#190 A-B, Jakarta. Within the store you can find:

  • A full-range of live BlackBerry products to try and test
  • A comprehensive portfolio of authorized BlackBerry accessories
  • Fully-trained staff who provide expert advice and assistance
  • The BlackBerry Expert Center, which provides industry-leading after-sales service (all products sold in the store come with a warranty from TAM)

The store has officially opened today and will offer opening weekend promotions. If you are one of the first 200 customers of the day to purchase a BlackBerry smartphone or BlackBerry PlayBook you can get one of the offers below:

  • A discount voucher of one million IDR (Rp. 1,000,000) to be used against a second purchase of a BlackBerry smartphone or PlayBook (only valid on the same day of purchase)
  • Entry into a draw to win a motorcycle, folding bike or other exclusive merchandise
  • 50% discount on all BlackBerry accessories

If you're taking a visit to the store this weekend be sure to take some photos and share them with us.

Cuz they look pretty cool!

BlackBerry should start opening stores like that all over the United States if they want to advertise and market their merchandise and products in the United States.

simu31

They should start opening stores like this all over. I’d quite like a few stores like this in Europe, but as RIM is getting such a hammering in the US (from the press and in sales), then maybe starting with the US would be ok ;)

PineappleUnderTheSea

They have smaller versions of these in some airports. The thing is, usually not many people in there since the only reason to go inside a store like that in an airport is to buy an accessory you forgot at home.

I wonder if RIM is opening these in Asia because the labor cost to staff the stores and the overhead is so much lower. I can't imagine that a store that size would be profitable in the US, after all, RIM only has phones and a tablet.

Joy1980

Apple doesn't use its stores to sell their products, they use their stores to sell the Apple Experience.

CGSCOT

Look at all the merch on the left & lots of cases etc on right walls, wish we had stores like that here.

yauchunh

knowledgeable staff is definitely important. Then we won't have your average consumer basing their bb 'facts' off some off based bias from some 'technician' at bestbuy.

Peritaxis

As much as I wish they had such BlackBerry stores in North America (Canada especially) and Europe, the hype just isn't there. And there will be need of 'knowledgeable' staff that can also handle the hate Apple and Droid fanboys may bring to rain on BB's parade.

Maybe Waterloo's RIM should make like their own BlackBerry gift shop open to the public... that's as far as I can see it in North America.

Jake Storm

A store at the Waterloo headquarters would make sense and it would be good publicity.

I want the BlackBerry shirt XD. Hope I could order online :S

BlackBerry Guy

Looks like an Apple Store. They should've used a black and metal colour scheme instead...

xDAKx

Using a black colour scheme would make the store dark (obviously) and truthfully, using metal would make it look more like an Apple Store, because of Apple's focus on using aluminum in their stores.

I think they did a good job at differentiating themselves, they used a darker wood colour and their focus on glossy white helps too. Look at the primary colours in an Apple Store, it's metallic silver, a brighter coloured wood and grey.

staraf

Well done! Next time (maybe soon) I will be there.

Blackberry is number one in the UK give us stores!!!!!!!!!!

koool1

Like to see stores like that here, especially after BB10 devices are released.

Marketing - create some buzz RIM!!!

3_M4N

I think these stores would do great in larger cities and in markets such as the UK where the BlackBerry brand is already so popular. I would like to see the media cover the opening of these stores much more too. I don't think I've seen any information about these storefronts anywhere else besides CrackBerry.com. Plus, imagine if these stores ran cross promotions with the bloggers from right here on CrackBerry! Imagine a flagship store in London or New York having a grand opening and debut of the BB10 devices with guest appearances of Kevin or B1aze or anyone of the other bloggers. People would go nuts! I'm sure a ton of us fans would consider traveling just for the opportunity to meet some of our heroes and get the phones that we've all been waiting so long for! That would just be awesome.

doubleaa25

They should have some Blackberry Stores in the US, especially one in the mall i live close to. The Blackberry store should be placed right beside the Microsoft Store which is right across from the Apple Store.

KeiFeR123

They should open one in Manila, Philippines. Blackberry will be a hit there. People there just love to text. BBM is the cheapest alternative.

Dinadivas

Indonesia still Big Market for RIM,
people here, if you dont Have blackberry, then they Need to contact with you, They do Not want Spend Rp. 300 for Txting / sms, they prefer asked Your PIN,
:)

world traveler and former ceo

great news! .. the Blackberry Store in Bangkok is awesome!! This one will be too!!

soogriff

Need a Blackberry store in the Dallas area! Would love to get accessories, etc at the store instead of ordering them online. The only cases I seem to find are leather holsters and all things black. Come on. Sometimes I want some color in my life. ;)

mssca

I know we all need stores near us. But RIM is almost broke and don't have funds to spend like Apple or Google. So I think that's why they don't want to create stores across the world.

Darrweng

I don't think RIM is almost broke. They are hammered and bashed and stocks are oversold but not almost broke. they are still way above water. As a company they are still profitable.

dgsman

Good job , Blackberry's expands will be great for the larketing of the new BB 10 smartphone.
Hope that its expand will arrive in Belgium

TurkXtreme
