Here were are, eleven days into BlackBerry's festive giveaway, 25 Days of Gifts. We have seen a whole variety of freebies already, from games, apps and movies and TV shows (in some regions, anyway). I think we're all getting into the swing of things now - checking BlackBerry World every morning, or even soon after midnight to see what the next day has to offer. Remember, you can check out the original post with the full listing too.

Today brings us popular weather app BeWeather 10 Pro. A pretty fully featured weather app that includes satellite maps and radar maps (U.S. Only). Once again, some folk in the forums have noted that while they see the app in the 25 Days banner is it not showing up as free. If this is happening to you, try refreshing BlackBerry World (in BlackBerry World, swipe down from the top>Settings>General>Refresh BlackBerry World). Or try using the link below. It could be that the servers have not fully updated. Rest assured you should get it for free.

You can also hit up the forums later today if you find out what tomorrow's freebie will be.

Just installed. Liking it so far, just monitoring battery as compared to 10.2.1stocks weather app.

Thanks BlackBerry.

First
App that I postponed to buy. For once I find myself lucky. Xmas surprise. Now let's see whether it was worth the download. I did like the version om my legacy device.

Have a nice day

I was waiting too. I have 4 weather apps that all have good aspects to them, but have some things missing that one of the others has. This one is actually a little better than the official Accuweather app only because the radar is better resolution. That was one of the things that had me keeping the Accuweather app. Another app I've been using is the Weather + app. That one has no radar, but is a really nicely designed app, but is really basic in its information. BeWeather PRO may end up being my sole weather app at this point.

Great app. Shame I paid for it though. Same with Pac Man

You moat definitely should have an English lesson and ensure that the words you use are structured in correct grammatical order and spelt correctly. Not some ad-hoc words put together from some unknown dictionary that doesn't exist in the world that English scholars rely upon. My rant for today. :)

Posted via CB10

djraz_official

Moat = most. Trust BlackBerry spell check to completely ruin that entire rant!

Wow. Would have made perfect since if it wern't for your own error that contridicted the gist of your point. Wow.

brian4591

Spelt? Really, wow!

Posted via CB10

Genghis2k3

Yes, really. Used outside of the US, it is very much acceptable as substitute for spelled. However, I did notice the apparent fear of improper comma placement - and the total omission thereof.

I also installed it. I am not really into those weather apps and the default one is good enough for my needs. I also can't see any real benefits of BeWeather over that stock one, besides the fancier animations and more options of course. However it is free and it is pretty decent. No reason not to get it! I'm looking forward what we'll get tomorrow!

Posted via the awesome Blackberry Q10

djraz_official

The stock one as nice as it is doesn't even come close to accuwrathers own mobile app nor does it hold a candle to beweather pro as it allows u to chose different weather stations to poll info from as well as giving you satellite access. Dig deeper you will see the difference and why it's better. I use accuweathers own mobile app and beweather pro.

Posted via CB10

Skeevecr

I think you are missing the previous poster's point, while this app has more features if you have no need of these additional features then the app is not inherently better at the primary function of telling you the weather.

Beyond the question of features, you also have to consider app performance, the stock app is quicker to load and have your current location and if you do not have a particular need to see weather for multiple locations at once then the ui choice of the stock app to go straight into the fullscreen view is a better one than on this app where you have to tap a tile to get to the same sort of view. That initial tile view also looks quite poor for an initial screen if you do not add more than one location too.

While this is obviously a good app, it is wrong to declare something definitively better in response to another poster when what you actually mean is that it suits you better.

trinichindian

Agreed

The stock app (10.2) forward is quite good for most peoples needs. I was somehow actually expecting more from this in terms of the interface. The initial tile/list view is not the most appealing and they could do alot of work on that. I also would have thought the iconsets would be more integrated and animated too.

But at the end of the day, it does the job...gives you the weather.

Skeevecr

I actually think the tile ui would be fine if you have a lot of places added, but realistically do many people use such an app like that so letting people choose what screen to be the default would be a sensible option for them to add in the future.

Dukun

Those 2 have been my choices for weather as well. I wish we could pay for an Accuweather version without ads though!

Last couple of days the free app does not appear in BlackBerry World until late afternoon. It only shows the previous day. I'm in Malaysia and we should get the free apps release ahead than the west. Well I must say that I'm enjoying all the free apps thus far. 14 more days to go. Yea!

These 25 days of Free apps needs to be marketed more. Apple announces 10 days of free apps for January and its front page news on canada.com :( We're into day 10 and apart from Crackberry and Blackberry World I haven't seen it anywhere.

Why is it that the Be Weather 10 app is only available for the USA, yet it's a free download in Canada? Why would I even bother downloading it then? I thought these free apps varied by region. So why don't we get something that's actually available for our region?

You need to re-read the write up. The app works just fine in Canada however radar maps are only applicable to the users in the USA. I have not personally confirmed this, I am just going from what the author wrote.

Thanks for the app. I had it on my Torch and loved it. This one is definitely better. Like RJ says, just dig into it...

Maybe I'm missing something, but when trying to add additional locations, it can't find many. Apparently Montreal doesn't exist.

Looks good but doesn't seem to find cities outside the US very well. Accuweather found international cities in seconds whereas I get a sining spinning circle in Be weather

Posted via CB10

jojo beaconsfield

Yeah,Accuweather is good for me,and it's free.I'm in Canada, waiting for better weather ,Going to be cold this weekend.

Andy321

I'm getting a lot of the spinning wheel too, first when trying to add Toronto, then when trying to add Abbotsford. That said, suddenly after the 5th try it found Toronto instantly. I don't think it is an issue with the app nor liking us Canadians, or not working properly for Canada so much as it may be a little bug.

Posted via CB10

Andy321

I just figured it out. Don't type the entire city name. Type one letter, wait awhile and see if it pulls up some options. If I type in all of "vancouver", the wheel spins and nothing comes up. If I type "V" and stop, it pulls up a bunch of V cities, including Vancouver, tap Vancouver and presto, it is added. Likewise for Abbotsford - if I write the whole name, nothing happens. If I type "ab", a bunch of options pop up and one can scroll down and find Abbotsford.

Posted via CB10

chef_DJ

Zip codes does the same thing... u put in the whole thing and all I get is the spinning wheel. that doesn't happen in the stock weather app...I think that a weird bug to have in the pro version. good thing I didn't pay for it. Im going back to the stock. I like to have multiple locations for weather.

I agree, a lot of negative and condescending comments in the CB posts lately. I realize the holidays bring a great deal of stress so please people just breath and try to relax.

Keep The Faith

Capuano

Anyone knows how does that work? Will the Developer get the money from BB for each Download or do they have nothing of it?

PantherBlitz

Its hard to imagine the Devs getting nothing. Blackberry does not have the right to give away other people's property. Some agreement for compensation must be in place before the giveaway.

Posted via CB10

drrobert_Taco

I bought this app and have found I use it less since the huge upgrade to the stock weather app with 10.2 it is a very solid app though!

Posted via CB10

Jonesy1966

Outside of some fancy graphics I'm not sure what this app offers over other weather apps that are available, I particularly don't like having it track my location just to make it work. My current app from The Weather Network does the same job with out the superfluous graphics and you have the choice of running a locator or finding the weather via postal/zip code for saved locations. Had I paid for this app I would have been disappointed, even for free I think I'll stick to what I've got. Thanks anyway, BlackBerry! Love these app giveaways.

andrew1479

Is there any way to see the weather past what is currently happening, maybe a 14 day forecast? Am I missing something here?!

Posted via CB10

andrew1479

Nvm, I am blind apparently, good day.

Posted via CB10

Omahahaha

I like their weather apps for various OS versions so much that I'm not disappointed that I paid for this a couple of months ago. This one priced at $3.99 and then 2.99 is a great gift for those who don't have it and want it. Thanks, BlackBerry!

RJ_BB10

Installed it and looks good. The "RealFeel" from the native app is different (much colder, agrees with local weather stations) from the "Feels Like" on BeWeather. That's crucial when checking out the weather...at least in Toronto. What's the point of checking the weather without a reliable wind chill? Am I right??

Posted via CB10

PackmanX

Agreed, I'm not sure they understand the whole 'feels like' thing. It always seems to be the same as the actual temperature.

Omahahaha

Here in Nebraska/USA, the "Feels Like" is not the same as the temp. I have 4 weather apps on my Z10 and this one has been as much as 10 degrees different than the other 3 apps. However, the other 3 don't always agree with each other either but usually only by a degree or 2. Most of the time this one has the same temp as the other apps though, in my experience.

dragon1234

Sweet! Finally something I can use. Their free app us awesome, very happy to get the pro version now.
