BeeJive IM releases v 2.1 beta for BlackBerry

BeeJive IM has long been a go to application for BlackBerry users not satisfied with the built in BlackBerry instant messaging clients. Given that BeeJive IM combines all your IM applications (GTalk, MSN, AIM etc.) into one, it makes it easier to manage. The latest version was released a few days ago in beta form. Version 2.1 can now be downloaded OTA direct from the BeeJive website. One thing to consider is that it is a beta application, so some bugs are pretty much expected. You can help by offering some feedback in the BeeJive IM support forums.

Updates & Bug fixes in this release:

  • Notifications & Alerts updated.
  • Chat scrolling updated.
  • Global Pop-ups fixed.
  • various other bug fixes & enhancements

New features from current production version:

  • added a preference to launch BeejiveIM when the device starts up.
  • added ability to send image / file from camera app. 

If you're interested in checking out the beta which is available is available for devices running OS 4.2.1 and up, be sure to grab the right version for your device. Otherwise, you may have some issues with compatability.

Does this have fb chat as well? I am currently using the beta version of trillian and so far have no complaints with it.

How does the Facebook IMing compare in these two apps? Right now I'm using Trillian to FB chat, and its ok I guess...

The chatting itself is basically the same... What BeeJive lacks for is the pizazz! I have a transferable BeeJive lisence but to me Trillian already wins. The contact list has groups and metacontacts and syncs between all devices! With Trillian you can set your budy icon from the app...

BeeJive is more integrated with the BlackBerry, but the contact list is just so bland. And it's hard for me to find contacts on BeeJive... I have many of my contacts renamed and sorted into groups and metacontacts on the desktop client that it's always been hard to use BeeJive for me.

But no matter what the competition will be fierce! BeeJive has reigned supreme... and has gotten comfortable IMHO that both clients (and possibly even IM+) will benefit from this New IM War... (mark my words IM+ will be releasing an update soon, lol)

I have a Beejive license from ages ago (perhaps not valid on current version) but even if it was valid, I don't have much use for it now that I mostly use BBM & Twitter.

I bought the multi-device license years ago, and still use it today. However, I've been on Trillian since it came out for beta testing, and I like it!

Trillian handles Facebook chat better, in my opinion. It displays Facebook Friends' Lists as groups in the app.

However, Trillian doesn't use AutoText yet! So there's no auto-correcting of words or the auto period at the end of sentences.

I actually like the look of Trillian better.

I still think BeeJive is best, but not by much considering Trillian is still in beta.

Also, I like BeeJive's icon better. I'm picky about that stuff.

I have always like Beejive and highly recommended it, but I have stopped using it for a long time because of several problems with the latest version. I have addressed it many times and being ignored. I have tried posted it on their forum but all my posts needed approval from admin in order to shows, which of cuz never shows up.

The lack of updated version to fix problem annoyed me.

I am trying trillian now and like it very much, and I think they would definitely become one of my favorite apps pretty soon.

I wish they could add Skype chat. And I wish there was a way to block ICQ buddy requests. IM+ has both these features.

I forget which version I have, but I actually shelled out money for the license. Every time I have it minimized, and someone IMs me and I get the pop-up, my phone freezes for a few seconds and I find it rather annoying. Hope this and official future releases take care of this.

Wow battery drain. I had FB chat on since about 10 am, at 430 with minimal usage my battery is nearly dead. Unacceptable

There is nothing much changed with this version, none of the issues that I have encountered are fixed. I am really wondering if they just push out this "beta" version just because trillian release its beta.

I'm getting the same thing. The conversation does come back if you send another message though. Seems like a screen refresh issue of some sort.
