It's been a long road of beta testing for the BeeJiveIM team but, the day has finally come. BeeJiveIM 2.0 for BlackBerry smartphones is now available for purchase or as a free 30 day trial. If you were a beta tester the new features should be no surprise. But, for those of you out there that may have passed over the beta, new features are as follows:

  • Clickable Twitter usernames: Click on a Twitter username in a chat to launch Twitter.
  • Refined and responsive UI: Take advantage of BeejiveIM’s custom-written user interface, offering speedy and responsive controls and a modern look-and-feel.

  • More chat styles: Customize your chat styles and colors and set different backgrounds and wallpapers.

  • Improved Battery Life:  Staying in touch with all your friends is now far gentler on your battery.

Right now and through the holidays BeeJiveIM is on sale $9.95 for a device license and $14.95 for a user license. That's 50% off the original price of BeeJiveIM. Just be sure to check out the differences between the two options and as always, all versions get free upgrades. Full press release after the jump.

SAN FRANCISCO-December 16, 2009-Beejive today announced the immediate availability of BeejiveIM for BlackBerry 2.0, the most full-featured IM application available on the BlackBerry platform. This fast, modern, and highly customizable BlackBerry app supports Facebook Chat, GoogleTalk®, AIM®/iChat®/MobileMe®, MSN®/Windows Live®, Yahoo!®, MySpace, ICQ®, and Jabber, allowing users to access all of their IM accounts from one user-friendly app.

With BeejiveIM, users can experience the always-on connectivity and feature richness of desktop instant messaging from their BlackBerrys, making it much easier and more cost effective to communicate than via texting. From now until January 1, 2010, BeejiveIM for BlackBerry 2.0 will be available for fifty percent off, with device licenses available for only $9.95 and user licenses available for only $14.95 from www.beejive.com/buy. At these prices, using BeejiveIM to send instant messages is substantially cheaper than most text messaging plans.

BeejiveIM for BlackBerry 2.0 adds a multitude of new key features that enable users to stay in touch more effectively than ever. Already a full-featured social networking application, BeejiveIM 2.0 now includes:

  • Facebook chat: Chat with your Facebook friends while on the go, and see a record of your chats on facebook.com.

  • Support for the 5.0 OS and Storm: BeejiveIM supports all BlackBerrys running 4.2.1+ and 5.X operating systems, including the Storm and Storm 2.

These join an already long list of features, including:

  • Group chats: Chat with groups of contacts on AIM®, Yahoo®, MSN®, and Jabber.
  • UI Customization: Customize your buddy lists, chat layouts, bubble styles, and more.
  • Logging: View your chat history, and email yourself logs of your past chats.
  • Buddy Icons: Show icons for all contacts in your buddy list.
  • Clickable Hyperlinks: Click on real hyperlinks in chats, allowing you to browse, call, tweet, email, text, or PIN message directly from a chat screen.

"Mobile phones are now full-fledged social networking tools and remote offices, and we enable the millions of BlackBerry users to always stay in touch with their friends and business contacts on virtually any chat network," said Kai Yu, founder and CEO of Beejive. "With BeejiveIM for BlackBerry 2.0 we've added a long list of powerful new features to help users stay in contact while minimizing their text messaging expenses. And, in the spirit of the holidays, we're cutting the price in half, the biggest sale we've ever had. "

Pricing and Availability

BeejiveIM for BlackBerry is available with two different licenses: a $9.95 device license and a $14.95 user license. The device license is for use on one BlackBerry, and if you change your BlackBerry device you will need to purchase a license upgrade or transfer. The user license is for use on one BlackBerry device at a time and can be transferred to other BlackBerrys for free. Both versions include free upgrades. On January 1, 2010, pricing will return to $19.95 for device licenses and $29.95 for user licenses.

BeeJive IM 2.0 For BlackBerry Released - Get It Today For 50% Off Regular Price

I think it did the same thing when my old 8900 and my 9000 were on OS5.0. Beejive needs to get with the program, especially since there's officially released devices running 5.0 on them.

Same as above, prices listed don't appear discounted... is there supposed to be a promo code to get the discount?

As stated in the press release, where do we get the free upgrade? I'm already a beejive user and have a license for my BB.

Thanks!

that if you currently have BeeJive, you have to purchase a new license for 2.0? Or how do you get an upgrade?

im wondering the same thing...i've yet to read down, call me impatient. the article does say that you get "free upgrades" but its referencing on of the two purchase options i believe; no mention of any current license holders. =(

You people need to stop acting like little bitches. Wah wah wah my $30. I'm so sick of people complaining about this software!!!! Relax. If there's a problem, I'm sure it will be resolved.

Crunch, thank you for saying basically the same thing.. Leave the vulgarities to me. I've PAID for this application to use the free beta. Most of you Crackberry people are so goddamn cheap, always begging devs for free shit or discounts.

Now I'm mad. I wanted to come here and say this is a steal at 50% off but you people need to chill before you actually see that it's a good deal!

I have used BeeJive for a few years now. I purchased the transferable license and it has paid back dividends. The software has improved more and more with each version update.

Joski is right, The 50% off for Beejive is a STEAL! A lot of people are being cheap and don't realize the value of a good app like this. I paid for this years ago and it slowly has increased features over the years.

Facebook instant messaging was unheard of years ago with Beejive and they listened to customers by configuring it to the software. I highly recommend Beejive, definitely a top 5 Blackberry App!

How the fuck would you know how much someone could afford. Also, people were whining because the god damn discount wasn't showing. Shove it, dick.

Hi everyone -- all of the pricing and version updates will be available by 9AM Pacific. Thanks,

The Beejive Team

It's showing $19.95 instead of $14.95 for a user license for me.

edit: Just saw the update from Beejive above.

Just curious, I have never used Beejive. I can see how it could be useful to integrate all the various chats into one program but is it really worth the cost when I have facebook, and google chat already on my Tour for free? Will it completely replace all the functionality on those apps or will I need those apps installed in addition to Beejive to realize all they have to offer in addition to chat capabilities?

Thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If this software completely replace all the functionality of the free apps it replaces it may be worth it but not if it only has some of the functions of those apps. (i.e. Facebook newsfeed, uploading photos to facebook, etc.)

I can say that I chat across 5 services (4 most of the time) and this app has been the most reliable. I use it on both my iphone and Storm.

The options are not that different from the freeware clients and even adds a lot of extras they dont in addition, its interface is definatly more attractive as well as easy to use. No you will not need the other apps once you start using Beejive as this will replace them both and any others that you might decide to add on such as Yahoo,MSN or even AOL.

Try it for free. If you like it (and I think you will) grab it. Only thing is Im not sure how long the sale will last!

Enjoy!

The 2.0 is great but the aways really sucks no spaces. Can it be fixed please. Like it was on the 1.1.11 .. But besides that is so worth the upgrade

LOL ! Joski, some one must have really pissed you off! DrewDT do you have Facebook chat on your Tour? Beejive doesn't replace facebook, it just gives you instant messaging for facebook , myspace, etc.

Chat is nice to add onto Facebook, but what about the other apps like Google Chat, I.M., does it add anything new or just gives limited capabilites in comparison to the native free programs it replaces?

Not sure what has prompted sarcastic, unhelpful responses that doesn't address my original question. As of now I only use two apps and am considering Beejive and want mature responses from users that have actually used Beejive and what their thoughts are.

Thanks in advance for thoughtful responses.

you can have FB, Yahoo, AIM, Google all in one and chat with any of your friends in this one app. So this way you don't have to have them running in their native apps. It works and you can set it up to know when one of your friends is available for chat. I just purchased it and its really nice! You can try it out for free for 30 days to see if it is something you would want...I had heard so many good things about it that I just went ahead and purchased it for the discount price because it goes back up after 1 January 2010.

if you already have beejive, hit the link above using your bb. you'll see the free upgrade link.

you need to uninstall the old version first.

enjoy!

I have been using BeeJive for a few years now. I now have the beta on my S2 and it works prefect. I love this program and the addition of FB chat a few versions back was pretty sweet.

Be patient guys, this program is very good and definitely worth the money. It's way way better than IM+ and a whole lot cheaper too.

How long does it take for the facebook chat friends to load? My google talk friends loaded immediately but I've been waiting for 15 minutes and no Fbook friends have populated yet.

didn't cb already leak this?? i dl 2.0 a couple weeks ago. i already had beejive and i have all those features shown.

I'am not sure what page are you guys getting directed at but if you click the purchase link on the 2nd line it takes you to a page with the discount. I downloaded Beejive on my 8900 with 5.0 and it went through smooth. The only thing missing is the license key which i still haven't received. Its been 20 mins since i made the purchase.

Did you purchase using Google Checkout or Paypal? Google Checkout sometimes takes longer to approve payments. If you used Google, can you check your Google account to see if the payment has been approved or is still pending? Thanks,

Beejive

I did use google checkout but i just logged into it and can see the purchase gone through. It has already got charged to my card as i logged in to my online banking which shows the purchase. How can i be sure that Google checkout payment has been processed??

thanks

Finally i received the License key but apparently i have been charged twice. have sent an e-mail to support so now waiting for a reply.

Made my purchase for $10 and I'm good to go. I already had the trial so I purchased and registered for a full license on my BB and I'm good now.

I have had the beta on my phone since they released it, and I clicked on the link above in the blog, and everything went through within minutes. I have my key and it's been successfully activated on my Storm 2! Yay Beejive!

There is no aim icons or status this was the only reason I loved beejive now it looks like BB AIM. NO point can I get the downgrade anywhere this is some BULLSHHHHHH!!!!! :(
Beejive you just lost one a want my MONEY BACK$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

talking like a retard is definitely not a good way to get your money back, as for the features you're complaining about, they all exist.

Tried typing in beejive.com/download in my bb browser and it doesn't direct me to an ota download, any ideas?

Thanks for all your hard work on getting this new release out. I know it wasn't a easy road but its DONE!

I was pleased to beta test and even more then happy to say I have both iphone and berry versions and while my iPhone has taken over some- my berry has not been neglected.

Nice work guys. Special thanks to Sat & Jim for the help when ever possible.

Good work guys keep the updates coming!

If you want all the separate chat apps taking up all of your file free memory while they're running, have at it.

It's worth it.

Is this identical to the RC version leaked on here about a week ago? Or has it been fine-tuned a bit?

Got my upgrade not too long ago. I'm actually coming from 2.0 beta RC1 & so far so good... I love beejive IM.

did they fix all the bugs on this? I'm on a tour running 5.0 7x11 and remember the beta had so many bugs that i reverted all the way back to the 1.1.2 build. Stilling running the 1.1.2 w/ facebook chat and seems fine. Is the upgrade worth it?

Iphone got it for $10 so why the hell did we have to pay $20?? What a rip off, no way in hell I bought it even though I loooved it. Now that's it's only $10, I'm all over it. Why the hell were they ripping us off in the first place?? That app IS NOT worth $20.

I bough the User license back when it was $30 and man is it worth it! Anyone who seriously IMs will appreciate what this application has to offer. I bought my license a year ago and I will forever get unlimited upgrades and transfers, not many applications offer that.

I was going to buy this when it was 19.95. good thing I waited. I love the beejive im app. Will be getting this today!

This app got installed, then tried to ran it and then my OS crash!! This is crap... Can't belive this app does the same thing as an unsupported one...

I just bought the 14.95$ since I might upgrade my BB in a year. I was wondering, how much is the upgrade to another BB if you bought the 10$. Anyways, i need this for FB chat.

I've had BeeJive since version 1.1.1 and just upgraded today to the new 2.0. WOW! This thing blew me away. It is awesome that once you buy the Unlimited User License package, you get unlimited upgrades and downloads, as well free transfers from one BlackBerry to another. Definitely makes the $30 I paid worth it.

2.0 is leaps and bounds above 1.1.1, I installed it before getting lunch today and spent the entire time on it. It WILL consume you!!
