Gaming heaven - BADLAND comes to BlackBerry 10

By James Richardson on 2 Oct 2013 04:47 pm EDT

With over 7 million players already on other mobile platforms, BADLAND has now made its way to BlackBerry 10 and I suspect this one will swiftly go to the top of the charts in BlackBerry World as it oozes awesomeness!

The game is the perfect example of a side scrolling adventure game where your character (which looks a bit like a hedgehog with wings!) must dodge obstacles and maintain a steady pace in order to reach the end of the level. As the background is always moving, if you get trapped, you'll be pulled out of the level to start again.

Controlling your character is done by simply tapping on the screen to make him fly upwards. As you make your way through the levels there will be orange orbs you can collect that will either increase or decrease the size of you depending on what obstacles lay ahead. You can also pick up some friends, who look just like you, and they too can help, in particular when you come up against some fallen debris that needs some extra power to move it.

As well as a single player mode you can also play with up to three buddies. Each of you will get a quarter of the screen to tap to control your character and it's a case of who can survive the longest.

With Scoreloop integration you can share your scores via BlackBerry 'Games' which is always great to see. The graphics and sound affects are truly stunning with BADLAND. If you can spare £2.50/$3.99 this one will suck you in and give you hours of fun. The game is also supported by all BlackBerry 10 handsets, so no limitations on whether you are full touch user or hardware keyboard addict.

Full features of the game include:

  • Single-player campaign with 70 truly unique levels and more coming in updates
  • Multiplayer mode for up to four players playing with the same device in 20 levels and more coming in updates
  • Intuitive one-touch controls combined with innovative level design
  • Highly immersive audio-visual gaming experience
  • 100% indie game (no publisher, no investor)
  • No in-app purchases (player gets the whole game experience optimized to all of his/her devices)
  • Scoreloop Cloud support (player's game progress is synced between all linked BlackBerry 10 devices)
  • More levels and content coming in updates

Wow we beat android for a release!

I think I'll wait for the android version on my nexus 7 though. I don't seem to touch any games on my phone. Too busy being hyper connected lol

Yeah, it's a huge deal that this is out on BlackBerry 10 before Android (nevermind Windows Phone). BB10 and Android versions were announced at the same time, too. This game was a massive success on iOS, and hopefully everyone on BB10 will snag it too.

This has joined World of Goo and Contre Jour in my library. It's a perfect adaptation to BB10!

If I were to buy this game, and all the music I have bought, and get a Z30, does it transfer over threw the BlackBerry App World, or will I need to rebuy?

If you bought all that through BlackBerry World, and the app/game devs don't put restrictions on downloading on multiple devices, then yes you'll be able to access them on your Z30 when/if you get it.

Posted via CB10 on my white Z10 & lovin' it!

Scoreloop support, yes! Another game I can play on my Z10 with the constant leaks and clean installs.

I'm gonna buy it to play on my Z10, and hopefully BlackBerry won't make us U.S. people wait long before the Z30 is up on their website for sale!

Haha. The notification light was distracting me the whole video. I kept wanting to read the message...

That game looks fun! I'm glad that it is available on BB App world before the Play Store (I couldn't find it on the latter.).

Good Job, Devs!

Gaming heaven is Killzone Mercenary for PS Vita!!! But, gaming on BlackBerry is awesome too.

Never heard of it, but downloaded for my kids.....$50 Pesos in Mexico. Love to support small business!

14 Year old son thinks it's pretty good....

Heard of it first hear, bought it, and it is great. Well worth all the critical acclaim!

told android friend to check it out, not even out for them haha go BBRY.....errrr I mean go FFH.TO!

It seems all these big name games that are coming out are only available for the Z10,Q10,Z30. I've got the Q5 and I am noticing many apps not available. Is that because of the screen size or the specs of the Q5 or what? I am thinking I may switch to the Z10. But I love the keyboard on the Q5

That game looks really good I will be getting it (and Contre Jour) this weekend.

@marc_lepage developer of Alpha Memory and NeverMaze

I love this on Ipad. I managed to get it for free there so I probably won't buy it again here but I'd def recommend this game to anyone.
