AT&T handing out $100 on new line activations

By Joseph Keller on 29 Aug 2014 10:02 am EDT

AT&T has announced a new promotion, offering a $100 bill credit to customers when they activate a live with a smartphone on AT&T Next. The offer has been run before, and is extended to both new and current customers. The promotion runs through September 30, 2014.

For those unaware, AT&T Next is a program that lets customers upgrade their phones outside of the conventional two-year contract cycle. You put no money down on the phone, and pay no upgrade fee, and no annual contract. Instead, you sign up for an ongoing payment plan to pay off your device over time. AT&T offers both 20-month and 24-month plans.

Will you be taking advantage of this AT&T bill credit? Tell us below in the comments.

AT&T handing out $100 on new line activations

If they get the passport, I might just switch from tmobile. Att always had better coverage

This could be a good deal for me since I have to move soon. T-Mobile doesn't have anything over 2g/edge service where I'm moving to

Still stuck on T-Mobile USA :(

If they offer the passport or classic I'll upgrade then. Other wise I'll keep buying my BlackBerry devices out right like I did for my Z30.

@df8699. I agree. Would switch if they promote BlackBerry overall. And of course better coverage.

I'd rather they get their monthly plans a little cheaper....

But these "rebates" or paying ETF (Sprint is doing) are a way to get people to switch. I'd wish they'd offer some type of customer reward for staying.... Been with Verizon a long time, but if anyone else ever build out their coverage in my area I'd drop them in a minute, as they are much more expensive.

All of these no hassle upgrade plans are a mathematical rip off. You'll end up paying more than the value of a phone if you purchased it outright.

How? You pay exactly retail cost for phones now. There is no interest.

You pay tax up front...then pay installments for the full price.

It is exactly the same as buying it at full cost.

I don't understand how someone could think that you pay more than full cost for the phone.

That's Kool I can add a line now with at&t . I think it's a fare price att is good, fast lte hspa. Yu get what yu pay for. Yu want cricket wireless or metro pcs yu get what yu payfotvh

Actually, you don't always get what you pay for. Where I live, AT&T is so congested that their LTE is worthless (not exaggeration) . It is almost dial-up speeds sometimes. When I had cheaper T-Mobile 4G, those speeds were very fast. Anyway, I know that varies by place and time, but when I switched to AT&T, I really didn't expect them to be so painfully slow. I'm NOT getting what I'm paying for

I'm looking to leave AT&T as soon as my contract is up. They really don't give a crap about BlackBerry, are always late releasing OS updates, and have uninformed idiots for sales reps in their stores. They could offer me a grand just to extend my current contract and I'd turn them down.

I left them back in November so I hear ya but since T-mobile doesn't have blackberries anymore we'll see if we get 10.3.1 with WiFi calling if not this could be trouble for my Q10.

The next program is not a mathematical ripoff it's the same cost as buying the phone(or tablet) outright just spread over 20 or 24 months. The kicker is you need to pay the installment plan off in order to upgrade. $31.50 X 20 = $630 what I'm paying for the new Ipad air I got on next in april (16gb) new cost $629 so where is the ripoff

Thank you sir. I think people are just listening to what others are saying and ignorantly repeating the same info.

All it is is spreading the full cost.

I believe they will be carrying both, the passport and classic, as they still the previous bold (9930), Z10 and Q10. They recently released the most current official update for BB10. They're getting there. They're kind of pricey, but their coverage is just great, their customer service has improved in the last 2-3 years. I've been with them for the past 12 years and never had any issues with coverage nor service, except for the OS updates, but they're improving.

Okay all you planning to switch...LET AT&T KNOW!!! Then maybe they'll offer more BlackBerry's like the Passport & Classic.

Posted by my FABULOUS z10..THANK YOU 

I find this rather funny.

Because in South Africa if you would like to switch ISPs you have to pay the equvialant of $20 to connect to another service provider...

Oh by the way, this seems more like a att site rather than Crackberry hope Crackberry is getting royalties.

Just watch for bait and switch pricing. I'm paying ATT $50 more per month than the rep said. And of course he doesn't reply to emails anymore.
