Wow, can't imagine waiting this long to get, but congrats to AT&T and customers! It really is a great phone!
Just got mine at the local AT&T store, got there 15mins before 10am, there were about 6 people behind me but none of them actually for the 9900 :p
Anyways, I was the 1st official Bold 9900 buyer at that store, hooray for me :D !!!!!!! It's a beauty!!!
I was not due for an upgrade til March 2012, however I negotiated with a Manager and gave me a early upgrade break!!
Few downsides:
I thought all 9900 were coming with the holster. Not on AT&Ts.
At least at my AT&T store, they were not fully prepared for selling this phone, inventory was not uploaded yet, bolds not showing up on their system.
Only 1 OtterBox commuter case available for $40bucks! No other accessory available yet...
Right now doing data restore, upgrading apps and tweaking it out... Best day ever!

BOLD 9900 & PlayBook 64GB Wifi
Since I am currently considering another carrier I went ahead and priced this phone and a plan for 450 minutes talk, 2 GB data, and unlimited text. The total per month came out to be $84.99! o_0 Is AT&T drunk? Who pays this for his or her plan, and why? I would love to hear from some AT&T customers.
Yep...add insurance & I pay $90 a month for exactly the items you listed.....(includes unltd. mobile to ANY mobile, any carrier & rollover minutes & 5000 nights and weekends). A lot of $$$$, but really not TOO far off from any of the other carriers for the same options. Been with ATT (BellSouth, Cingular) for over 15 years...has given me good service wherever I've lived. I know the grass may be greener on the other side, but the major carriers are pretty much all the same - money, money, money - ha! Gonna stay with ATT..... BTW, I have 4500+ minutes of rollover minutes, am usually on wi-fi for my data (have never used over 1GB of ATT data) & can't remember a dropped call in the past few years. Not really defending ATT here....just explaining my experiences.....
Oh, forgot.....picking up the 9900 today!!! Yippee!!!
Yep same here. My whole family uses AT&T and has for years without one single problem. We use the Family plan and share the max minute plan and unlimited text and data between 4 Blackberry's. You hear about how Verizon is suppose to be "so much better" than att but the truth is at this stage in the game, they're all about the same coverage wise and customer service wise. I'm waiting for the 9860 to release to att and then i'm upgrading from my 9800. the style of the 9900 seems old school to me even though it uses Touch screen technology. Come on Nov 12!
That's crazy. T-Mobile is $80 unlimited talk/text/web & Simple Mobile is $60 unlimited talk/text/web.
NICE!! May this long awaited day live FOREVER!
Glad this is finally here! However, I think I'll wait a bit and see how they have set this up to work with the PlayBook. I've been using the OTA Bridge from rrory with my 9700 and it has worked great. Hopefully AT&T hasn't screwed this up. Like the previous poster I've had no complaints with AT&T other than this delay, so here's to hoping this goes well!
YAY! About time hey!
So, when will you announce the winner for the AT&T Bold contest?
What did big blue block on the phone?bridge, nfc and what else?
Probably BlackBerry Maps, again. It wasn't on the demo unit I was using at a corporate AT&T store.
Rep of course tried to claim AT&T doesn't block anything.
this is great news for att people that have waited way to long for this phone.
In at&t store... Out of stock already :S Im heading to another one... Wish me luck.
Cool! Now, what about the competition where all of us commented on for a chance to win the 9900 when it came out on AT&T? Lol.
walmart.com has it for 129.00 and I am about to order mine right now
Got mine at 11 am EST. only had 3 in store one display two to sell. Got BES set up and doing apps now all going ok so far. Boy what a long wait!! Thanks ATT. This thing better be rock solid!
WILL BRIDGE TO PLAYBOOK BE BLOCKED?? I'M SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING CHANGING CARRIERS IF THIS REMAINS TRUE.
These should be free to all loyal ATT customers after that long of a delay. Glad to see they finally got them.
So what OS is coming installed on the AT&T 9900's? I won one from RIM in the #BB7FanNight contest and have been using on AT&T since it arrived (it's unlocked & unbranded) Mine says H+ i wonder if AT&T's OS will change that to 4G (LIIIIIIIIEEEESSSS!!!! =-) Just checked the BB download page for AT&T and don't see the 9900 on the list of phones yet. I was able to update my device in my profile on the AT&T website though =-)
I got to my nearest AT&T store at 5 minutes after opening. They were sold out. "They're a high demand device" the salesperson told me. So I asked how many they'd sold. TWO. That's it. A high volume device, and they get two to sell. Somehow, neither person that had bought those two were still in the store. Whatver. So I went to my car, used my old 9000 to find other AT&T stores, and about the 8th one i called still had their 2.and agreed to hold one for me. Drove the 10 miles to the store, Bought the phone, very nice rep who admitted he didn't know shit about blackberries, but if I had any questions, he'd get the answers for me.Took less than 15 minutes, including loaning me a cable so I could backup and restore from my laptop right there in the store.
I asked him how many of the other new phones he had in stock. About 50 each of the new HTC and Samsung phones. Two each of the new blackberries. He didn't understand the explanation I'd got from the other store either. High volume device, so they get 2 devices to each store. Authorized dealers won't get theirs until tomorrow or Tues.
Kinda makes me think that the possibility exists that the delay was related to fulfillment issues from RIM. Otherwise, why would every store only get 2 units in a big city market. Nothing else really makes sense.
Anyway, I'm glad to have it, and having fun figuring out how everything works. So far, I like.
