I love this game. I used to play it all the time.

I remember this game and others like it (e.g. Tempest) that were vector-based. In an era where 320x160 pixels was all you got on most arcade boxes, the black-and-white vector graphics looked astonishingly high-res. The beauty was that instead of having the electron beam sweep across the entire screen refreshing an array of pixels, it would just draw the line segments it needed. The result was smooth (albeit polygonic) shapes and super-responsive action.

I may be giving my age away when I say that this brings back many memories of beer filled nights at the local watering hole slotting in Quarters, yes you read right, quarters into the built in table top Asteroid game. Oh those were the days and win or loose i will have this game on my Storm 2 as I never want to grow up.

Asteroids---brings me back to my college days spent at the on-campus pub (the "Rat") when NJ allowed drinking at 18-years-old (back in the '70s). We were hooked on Asteroids and with beer in hand, spent many happy hours firing away at the asteroids. Some of the best times I ever had!

I loved the soundtrack to the original game, as silly as that is; it helped build the atmosphere of relaxation and panic when a ufo came by! I hope this version has that option, though I'd love to win it either way! :)
