Another BlackBerry 9630 Video Walk Through.... Posted in Devices on 11 Apr 2009 13:39 by Kevin Michaluk | The BlackBerry "Niagara" 9630 has yet to be officially acknowledged by Research in Motion, but that hasn't stopped it from going under the microsope a few times already (CB 9630 Review Part I, CB 9630 Review Part II, BGR 9630 Review). So while the 9630's goodness is already out there for all to know, I know most of us CrackBerry addicts never get tired of looking at pre-release device footage. That said, this latest BlackBerry 9630 video tour comes via thebigwletman, who has to be the youngest reviewer to ever get his hands on a pre-release BlackBerry. Be sure to check out these forum threads for the CrackBerry community's initial feedback (he says a few things that aren't very accurate). Take a watch... and let the blog post comments begin.

The names RIM and BlackBerry are registered Trademarks of Research in Motion Limited. |

This video's all well and good...but how did this kid get a pre-release blackberry????
Either Kevin or Boy Genius have kids, which I don't think is the case, or else somebody's mommy or daddy works at RIM and are soon going to get a severe reprimand. Considering you can read names in the address book and there's a Fido card in the device, it probably won't be too hard for somebody who cares to figure out who this kid is and how he got it. I can't wait to ditch my Storm for this as soon as it comes to Verizon. I'd be happy to see him be right and the Niagara get released next month.
I agree but how sure are you that it will come to verizon? Im willing to ditch my storm for it also but why so sure?
I think his balls need to drop before he gets a BlackBerry. What is this kid going to need a BB for anyway? Make fart noises in his 5th grade history class?

The email setup asked if the device should be set up on BES. So, unless the person works at a place with enterprise servers, I get a feeling he swiped someone's device and did a review. Not many places have the Niagara (some may have it either via RIM or the carriers or large enterprises for testing), so, the segment of the population that have access to it is very limited. Then again, although the camera work is shoddy, I got the feeling the creator had an idea what was going to be posted...and made sure things were visible YET they weren't 100% identifiable (and traceable).
The guy also has a Rogers-branded Pearl Flip versus Niagara video up as well on his YouTube site. The Pearl Flip used also has a Fido card in there.
It's good to see the device physically out there somewhere. I'm just very uneasy about the thought of someone possibly taking the device without someone's knowledge or authorization, doing a review on it, and exposing whoever has rightful care of the device to a slew of questions (and maybe reprimands) from RIM.

Please everybody stop picking on the little kid even though he messed up a little you have to admit he is about the only one who gave everybody a Really good sneak peak "I'll Thank the Kid for trying if nobody else does. "THANKS KID" I work for T-mobile in Blackberry and PDA Tech support dept and that phone is not comming out for T-mobile we already got the Backberry Curve 8900 and Wi-Fi. Also, we get upcoming phone release on our new phones all the time in our system called streamline everyday(system used only for people who work for t-mobile yes it's part of the intranet) As a proud owner of the Blackberry Curve 8900 with Wi-Fi enabled calling which means Yes, if you are connected to Wi-fi your calls are free every company should have it.(And we do offer t-mobile hotspots which is our wi-fi service sorry other companies(don't want to put anybody down)as you can see that phone looks like a cross breed between a curve 8900 and bold it has the top of the 8900 and the body of the Bold I'm satisfied with the 8900//Anyway Me I wouldn't download the os 5.0 software unless it shows up on www.t-mobile.com/bbupgrade or blackberry.com where it shows official software upgrades Trust Me! By the way 8900 supports GSM,GPRS,EDGE,(HIGH SPEED EDGE,8900) Like Delila said please take this like a grain of salt because we don't know if it is official//For example We had a cust send us T-mobile a video of a phone he created it was a sidekick Lx and a Playstaion PsP it looked really cool and if you google it or search youtube you will see it but it never came out that was the begining of last year when the sidekick were popular(I wouldn't advise anybody to get a sidekick)Sorry T-mobile and I still love working there.
Next time they should let an adult get there hands on one first. I was praying that kid to take a juice box break and let his dad take over.
Bad spellers untie...

What in the f*** would this kid get a non out yet blackberry?? he needs a better camera.. If it comes out for verizon i might get it and replace my storm.
So... what OS build was that running, kid?
Just curious =)
Does Verizon know how many 8830, 8330, Pearl, and disgruntled Storm users are waiting for the Niagara to finally be released? They better have a lot of inventory on hand when the 9630 hits the stores! Hurry up VZW and release it before you remove the 'Buy One Blackberry Get One Free' promotion!!! I'm specifically holding off renewing any of my qualifying phones in hopes that the 9630 is right around the corner!
It will only kill the storm if it includes wifi which might probably not include for some reason verizon is stupid. Im not saying wifi is essential but it does come handy sometimes..
sk817
You are so right! I have a Blackberry through Verizon and I am tired of not having wi-fi. I am going to switch to Sprint so I can use a CDMA Blackberry with wi-fi! Happy hunting with Verizon!
how will that help? sprint's curve has no wifi and who's to say their niagra will either if VZW's doesnt? Odds are both wont then
I thought sk817 said Verizon hates wi-fi...I figured there must be some other CDMA carrier that has a wi-fi Blackberry, since it seems to him Verizon is the only one that hates it? Does US Cellular? Alltel? Bell? Any of them!?!?? Why is it that only Verizon hates wi-fi if there are no other CDMA Blackberry's with wi-fi?!?!
you can look forward to the new Storm coming out at the end of the year, can't you?
He just blew up the Crackberry forums by insisting not once but twice that there will be wifi on this device when we have received confirmations over month-long debates that there WILL NOT BE WIFI. Ugh. Where does this kid get his info? And he thought there was an accelerometer!!! I'm sorry but that video just pissed me off.
Wow a video pissed you off. Hate to be your spouse....
I'd hate to have this kid as my son. A good 'ol smothering would do the trick
This kid is a queermo
You responded to your own comment? Neat.
Did the kid just touch the screen to change pictures? lol. Looks great though
-Storm Lover ^^
He was simulating touching the screen to move the pictures while he was tapping the "n" for next.
Why? Why would he do that? Whats the point?
this has wifi? but they said it does not have wifi, and the only device that will include wifi is the storm 2 according to many and that device is a question mark on when it comes to verizon or not but i want to strangle this kid for mixing info.
No WiFi. He stated that a later version of it might have WiFi but the one that he was holding currently did not have it.
I don't think the kid really knows what he is talking about...
2.5 mm headphone jack, javelin, carbon fiber baking lol ok

Noob.
Agreed.
its nice but i don't know i just like the size of the bold i hope rim makes an updated bold for at&t with better cam and lock button. This would be a nice cdma phone
I love the size of the Bold too! I love carrying around a phone the same size as my netbook.
Well not to ruin the anticipation of the Niagara but wouldn't it be better if we deal with the storms nonsense a little bit longer with the upcoming official OS to make things a little bit better then get the Storm 2. I mean the storm 2 does have wifi and it packs a 5 megapixel camera with good features on it. Maybe ill wait maybe not.
Storm 2 - 50%
Niagara- 50%
Storm 2 may have wifi but doesn't mean Verizon will enable it
SO TRUE! lol
I couldn't listen to that kid, talking like they've been using a BlackBerry for a while.
Kevin tell me that was your child or nephew, or butch niece and they were reading off a script you planned out for them.
this kid is a retard, he cant even make a proper video
how the hell he get his hands on one of these!!
"This kid is a retard. He can't even make a proper video. How in the hell did he get his hands on one of these?"
Fixed....
You can barely write in English. You don't use complete sentences. You use run-on sentences and improper punctuation. Yet, you still have the nerve to talk trash about someone whom probably knows more about Blackberrys than yourself? Wow!
This is useless, its either to close to the camera to read or the fingers are in they way of the device.
And then there's the ones who hold it so far away you can't see anything.
And hold the thing still so we can see it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Morons all
worst video ever why post this shit? Javelin its the Niagara .Stop with BS stuff
First of all, kid did a good job reviewing the device. Yeah he did get some facts wrong, but come on guys, get off his a**. I understand if this was Kevin doing the review and you getting all over him for giving you some wrong info. Half of you wouldn't do half as good as this kid did.
Second, why do you think this phone will be coming out on Verizon? You can clearly see a sim card in there, so I assume it will be t-mobile or att to get this phone, unless something changes along the way. So, as far as I can tell it will be gsm phone, not cdma. Verizon users, don't get your hopes up yet.
Third, as Kevin said "The BlackBerry "Niagara" 9630 has yet to be officially acknowledged by Research in Motion", so everything you see or hear should be taken with a grain of salt until it is official.
Lol at your comment. You obviously do not know anything about how the Storm works. (The Storm is for VZW, by the way and has a SIM card.) hahaaa
The storm also has a sim slot and so did the 8830. This phone is most likely the replacement for the 8830 as this will probably be a CDMA world phone. Im not saying Verizon exclusive or anything but pretty much all CDMA carriers (Sprint, Verizon etc) its been seen on some inner company documents regarding the release of this phone on CDMA.
