A new puzzle addiction comes to BlackBerry 10 with Animal Battle

By James Richardson on 28 Mar 2014 05:30 am EDT

If you favor puzzle style games on your BlackBerry you'll love Animal Battle which is brought to us by Ovogame, who also developed Jump Birdy Jump, Smiley's Pop and Frenzy Lanes just to name a few.

The native BlackBerry 10 puzzle quest - Animal Battle, sees you either outdoing a friend or the computer to get the highest score. With a choice of 20 characters to choose from you'll then need to fire colored blocks up the grid joining as many colored ones as possible. However, you'll notice that some of the blocks have a star icon on them. These are the only ones which will make the adjoined blocks vanish and as usual with this style of game, prevent the blocks from reaching the base of the display.

In terms of controls it's dead simple. You'll have two blocks each time and you can rotate them by tapping the screen. When you are happy with there orientation just swipe them up into place. In addition, just after me writing this article an update showed up for hardware keyboard users so you can use your keys if you prefer - a nice option.

I'm not particularly good or patient when it comes to puzzle games but I know how popular they can be and this one looks like it will be a success to me. You can pick up Animal Battle for all BlackBerry 10 smartphones and it's priced at £1.50/$1.99.

Features include:

  • Mind-blowing, seriously addictive gameplay.
  • Enjoy heated matches with friends.
  • Or play versus the computer.
  • 20 fun characters to choose from.
  • Three difficulty levels.
  • GamePad support.

A new puzzle addiction comes to BlackBerry 10 with Animal Battle

Just made myself a reverse first loser on purpose, just for the heck of it. LOL

Not claiming first, despite of being. ;-)

Nine minutes into the publishing of the blog post. Still first. This stuff happens, without pressing refresh like a fool.

Zzzzwiped from a Zedevice....

Finally our requests have been heard and NATIVE games are promoted.

Good stuff.

I also promote native tropical plants of North Queensland when doing landscaping, instead of some toxic or invasive foreign species. (am I looking at you, Android?)

Zzzzwiped from a Zedevice....

And supported a NATIVE.

Thanks to all BB10 developers for protecting and nurturing this endangered eco-system.

Thanks James, this is the right way, the CrackBerry way.

Stay pure and undefiled from the temptations of the (Android) world.

No, seriously, some Android apps are badly needed, but we still want an native version rather sooner than later. Go BlackBerry, go John Chen, go developers!

"No Q10?" -> "Buy from Chen... "

No, for real. Been here for 1/4 of an hour and nobody showed up. It's like 8:15pm here in Queensland.

Might just drop the Q or Z now and head for a cool shower under a majestic waterfall in the rainforest. After a hard days work finished.

No mobile reception it says in the article. Not sure about it, Telstra's coverage improved tremendously. There is also a big waterfall, so the article is not true.

@Prem don't forget to tune in to the ER in 45 minutes,BTW I'm really into designing and landscaping,Love the Earth and had Hundreds of BB shrubs,HAHA seriously there is no better place to work than outdoors and the I love roses had a rose garden of 44 of them,I could go on and on .....but I won't..lol

Good stuff. Two of my passions. Tech and nature.

Gotta strike a balance. A good balance.

No haven't forgotten. Might just take a walk in the botanic gardens instead.

Hope the Z10's battery is not gonna let me down. Big bummer. Or swap for the Q. I'd buy the 30. But rather hold it for the super phone. Hope they deliver before the iPhone 6 hits.

Haven't seen snow for at least five years. Last time was Australian alps in Thredbo July 2008. Kinda jealous of Canada every now and then. You can't have everything in life, unless you're a (b/m)illionaire ready to travel in a snap.

"No Q10?" -> "Buy from Chen... "

Jah23 was third full post (not a reply). You're a fourth loser.

No drama, it's all fun.

(yeah, some don't see it that way)

This is JC, the developer of Animal Battle. I have a thread on the forums if you want to post about it: http://bit.ly/1frUtHP
I would like to add that Animal Battle just got awarded with the Build For BlackBerry label and it does support GamePads. If you own a Playbook, you'll be glad to hear that the game is also available for it.

Btw, another JC. ?

Care to share what it stands for this time? First name is ok. (ouch, I used the controversial word)

Zzzzwiped from a Zedevice....
