Ambiance 

Have trouble sleeping? Just need to relax? Ambiance combines sound and pictures to do just this. After purchasing the app you can download over 550 environments, which include both sound and image, from its free online store. Ambiance also has a fully customizable alarm clock which lets you fall asleep as one sound fades out, and awake as another fades back in at the time of your choosing. Other features include dimming of your screen, marking sounds as favorites and even integration of your devices library. With the online store being updated every week, you are sure to find the right environments for you.

I have it in my iPod Touch and I use it once in a while when I can't fall asleep. It looks like it is $2.99 at the app store now.

This is correct. You can set a timer for as long as you like. you can set an alarm to start sounds later, if you like. You can run sounds indefinitely, if you like. Almost anything is possible.

So all the Blackberry links for this app sent you directly to the AppWorld site and this app shows up CLEARLY marked as being compatible with the Storm 2 (9550), but when I go there ON my Storm...the app doesn't appear. So, I sent myself the email link instead and it tells me the app is NOT compatible with my device...This seems to be happening a lot lately. I couldn't find a "hot link" to directly get this app (even on Urban Apps site), but I know in SEVERAL cases since the Storm 2 release...THAT has worked. I wish Blackberry would get their AppWorld crap worked out already...

When development was planned and started on the device, the Tour was not yet released. Tour support will come shortly.

Hi,

I am Matt from UrbanApps. Please let me clear up any confusion here.

1) The app is $4.99. Any older pages in App World will probably refresh shortly and the correct price will show.

2) The BlackBerry Tour is not supported at this time. We expect a Tour release shortly.

3) Some customers with the Storm 2 have reported issues and until we get to the bottom of it, we have chosen to remove the Storm 2 from the supported devices list.

Seems like it's not compatible with the 9530 either.

Once installed, it will not allow downloads of any of the listed sounds, and in trying to do so, it either hangs, eventually coming back with a "can not connect to ambiance" error, or locks up the phone, requiring a battery pull.

Have tried it with compatibility mode both enabled, and disabled, with no luck either way.

After wasting about a half hour trying to get this to work, I deleted it.

Hi Antic,

I am unable to duplicate what you are seeing on my 9530. Server logs also confirm that there are 9530 customers connecting fine. Can you ensure that you are not behind a firewall (either on the device itself, or through the network) that might be be blocking access to my server?

Please also check the permissions of the app to make sure you have given Ambiance full access to the filesystem and network.

No, not behind a firewall... the Storm 1 (9530) does not have Wi-Fi capability, and the On Device firewall settings are disabled.

Permissions for the app are all set as "allowed"

I bought this app from the Blackberry App World today and it downloaded fine but then got hung up and the screen said Ready To Install. It just hung there and after 10 minutes I had to do a battery pull. After the phone rebooted I checked and the app was not on my phone, so I opened Blackberry App World and clicked on My World and it shows the app with a progress bar and it just says Completing Purchase. Help, what do I do to get this installed on my phone?

I am under the assumption that Blackberry App World is the only place to purchase your application, which I just did and I have tried now for 2 hours to get it installed and it will not work. I understand that I purchased it through BB App World, but don't they give the funds to you, as the seller? I would imagine that you might have a little more concern for my issue. I purchased your application and it still is not installed on my phone. I did email BB App World support but have not heard back from them. Is there another way that this application can be emailed to me, since this seems to be a big problem, I mean, I did pay for it??

While I understand the need for a guy to make a buck, I can't help but feel like I'd be getting the shaft by paying 4x what a dirty iphone user pays.

Just purchased and tested the app on my Bold, and when running in 5.0.0.238, the app works... until you go to play the downloaded sound portion of the Ambiance. Once you get to that point, it claims it's playing, but all you get is pure silence.

Switched back to 4.6 version, and it works fine. Switching back to a 5.0 base version, and it breaks again...

Not blaming Matt, and not whining about it, just would like to know, with 5.0 right around the corner, if there are immediate plans to support 5.0.

We are aware of issues that have come up with the 5.0 software. Our engineers are looking into it as we speak and we should have a new fix posted in the next day, maybe 2. This should resolve any issues customers are currently facing.

Thanks for the feedback. On iTunes, we have a Lite version that is limited to 5 sounds downloaded. This is an option for us in the future on the BlackBerry platform as well.

Pretty bummed that i bought this app yesterday and cannot use on 5.0. Already emailed customer service and they are aware. You should really update the App World info letting people know this though.

Now I am out the cash and have no idea when the update will come out. Any eta on that? Anxious to use it. The samples sound great.

My only other concern is that my memory went from 25mb to 5 mb almost immediately when I had this installed. Will that be fixed with the update? Really froze my phone up.

We truly appreciate your patience. Our engineers have fixed the problem with 5.0 sound and are currently testing. Should not be more than a couple of days at most.

Ambiance is a fairly large and complex app. None-the-less I will have our developers take a look at memory consumption to see how we can improve.

In the above post, you set a time-frame for a 5.0 fix as: "we should have a new fix posted in the next day, maybe 2".

Would like to know if we can get a status update. There are a number of people that downloaded the software with the intentions of it working with 5.0 (appworld gives no indication of this). The 1-2 days you indicated in a previous post have gone. I (like many others) am not unreasonable, but if a software provider gives a hard time (as opposed to 'When it's done') then I don't believe it's too much to wonder what the status is when that time-frame is up. ;)

Hi,

We do appreciate your patience and understand the frustration with downloading an app that does not work. The volume on 5.0 bug was fixed within a few hours of being found. Upon testing and upon some user reports, there have been some other non-trivial bugs related to the 5.0 OS that needed to be fixed before release. Rather than inconvenience you with multiple updates in the same week, we have bundled these together for this upcoming bug-fix release.

We have concluded testing and are now (11:15 AM EST, Veterans Day) creating the final builds and uploading to App World. Once again, thank you for your patience.
