4.6.1.206 Officially Released For BlackBerry 8900!

Well not long after the leakage of 4.6.1.199 we now have an official release that is even higher in version number. We all know that often times when OS leaks happen RIM is many increments ahead of said leak and these days we are seeing more and more of the official versions being higher than the leaks. This time Orange UK came out with the release and in terms of quality, the forums are filling up with praises for 4.6.1.206. Fast GPS locks, better WiFi connectivity and better battery life are among the things noticed so far. If you have a BlackBerry 8900 this appears to be the OS you'll want to be running.

Is anyone else having trouble loading?
I ran the download, and it installed and triggered the Desktop Manager. The Desktop Manager scanned for available installations, and came back with "No software update is required for your device." I was unable to figure out how to manually initiate the process, if that is what I need to do.
Any suggestions?
coldfuzion Apr 9, 2009 at 1:07 pm
I am having the same problem. Its usually real easy to install, but nothing this time.
Any ideas?
coldfuzion Apr 9, 2009 at 1:50 pm
Never mind. I forgot to delete my vendor.xml file. All good now.
Thanks!
omg_its_kerri Apr 9, 2009 at 11:21 am
Downloaded and installed perfectly for me last night, though it did seem to take a bit longer than a usual OS upgrade. Haven't experienced any problems with it yet.

Where's the Bold love?
5.0? Yes!? Yes!??
captaincaa Apr 9, 2009 at 1:27 pm
I agree, there hasn't been an official Bold release and it's overdue. 3rd party developers are always coming up with games and themes, but RIM hasn't shown the same interest with what's really important...
jsayther Apr 9, 2009 at 2:51 pm
I am having the same issue. No updates available after download.
Delete the vendor.xml file? What is that?
jsayther Apr 9, 2009 at 2:58 pm
I found it and deleted it. Still no luck updating...

I need to know how can i found the vendor file so i can update my curve
ABerri Apr 9, 2009 at 6:38 pm
When you upgrade firmware versions, do you have to do all of your settings over again and download all your applications again?
Jay Fredrickson Apr 9, 2009 at 10:39 pm
At first it would not recognize that there was updated software as other mentioned.
I deleted the vendor.xml from my pc, restarted both phone and desktop manager and it worked from there.
Anonymous88544 Apr 10, 2009 at 12:51 am
Actually, I thought it was working, but it was actually installing the first OS. Now I'm back running .94.
SH1T!
Anonymous998833 Apr 10, 2009 at 1:30 am
Looks like I sorted it out.
How?
Install the .exe file
Delete vendor.xml
Plug in BB with USB
Launch "loader.exe" in same folder
Straight forward from there...
laurenchantel Apr 10, 2009 at 12:02 am

Go to the "Loader" file in the "App Loader" folder instead of trying to install it using Desktop Manager. It worked for me, and installed in less then 5 minutes!!
Yay!! A solution was found! AND works alot better than Desktop Manager! YAY! So excited.. lol

if you read my post up top you would have known to do this...:
Go to the "Loader" file in the "App Loader" folder instead of trying to install it using Desktop Manager. It worked for me, and installed in less then 5 minutes!!
kidd1128 Apr 10, 2009 at 2:48 am
i tried it but the file wont even load..how do i open the new os file?
kidd1128 Apr 10, 2009 at 2:49 am
i did wah u told me and it said no action required.
laurenchantel Apr 10, 2009 at 2:51 am
it should work.. dont use desktop manager.
You need to use the wizard set up "loader".
>program files
>common files
>research in motion
>apploader
then click on LOADER- it will take off from there and detect the most up to date OS
kidd1128 Apr 10, 2009 at 2:54 am
