4.6.1.206 Officially Released!

Well not long after the leakage of 4.6.1.199 we now have an official release that is even higher in version number. We all know that often times when OS leaks happen RIM is many increments ahead of said leak and these days we are seeing more and more of the official versions being higher than the leaks. This time Orange UK came out with the release and in terms of quality, the forums are filling up with praises for 4.6.1.206. Fast GPS locks, better WiFi connectivity and better battery life are among the things noticed so far. If you have a BlackBerry 8900 this appears to be the OS you'll want to be running.

Is anyone else having trouble loading?

I ran the download, and it installed and triggered the Desktop Manager. The Desktop Manager scanned for available installations, and came back with "No software update is required for your device." I was unable to figure out how to manually initiate the process, if that is what I need to do.

Any suggestions?

Downloaded and installed perfectly for me last night, though it did seem to take a bit longer than a usual OS upgrade. Haven't experienced any problems with it yet.

I agree, there hasn't been an official Bold release and it's overdue. 3rd party developers are always coming up with games and themes, but RIM hasn't shown the same interest with what's really important...

I am having the same issue. No updates available after download.

Delete the vendor.xml file? What is that?

When you upgrade firmware versions, do you have to do all of your settings over again and download all your applications again?

At first it would not recognize that there was updated software as other mentioned.
I deleted the vendor.xml from my pc, restarted both phone and desktop manager and it worked from there.

Looks like I sorted it out.
How?
Install the .exe file
Delete vendor.xml
Plug in BB with USB
Launch "loader.exe" in same folder
Straight forward from there...

Go to the "Loader" file in the "App Loader" folder instead of trying to install it using Desktop Manager. It worked for me, and installed in less then 5 minutes!!

Yay!! A solution was found! AND works alot better than Desktop Manager! YAY! So excited.. lol

everything got deleted off my phone.. including all apps and themes.. very annoyed.. currently reinstalling everything.. I hope all my paid apps are still recognized by my phone..

it lets me pick 317 or current, then when i pick 317 it says no update is required, why why??? i delted the xml file and restarted everything, wah should i do?

if you read my post up top you would have known to do this...:

it should work.. dont use desktop manager.

You need to use the wizard set up "loader".

>program files
>common files
>research in motion
>apploader

then click on LOADER- it will take off from there and detect the most up to date OS

the xml file poppe dup again i jus delte it and its doign sothing now, so lets hope this works, if not i give up ha

lol goodluck! But it should work tho.
BUT if it doesnt work, your really not missing out on much. I see no difference at all in my phone... its nothing exciting!

well, iv only had this os for a few hrs.. but so fsr so good! I did however notice a huge difference with the .199 version.. it was fantastic!

i have a T-Mobile 8900 & i did the update, thank god it update successfully, i haven't notice mayor changes on the OS yet as i get to playing with it im sure i will, but thank you posting this crackberry!

i set this up yesterday on my rogers 8900 and i've been experiencing some difficulties. for example, my facebook app doesn't work at all...when i try to login it keeps telling me that i am on a service plan that doesn't support this application and that i should contact my service provider. also the browser wasn't working early today...its working now though ???...any ideas on what the problem might be?
