8310 OS 4.5.0.163 Officially Released

This is great for all you BlackBerry Curve 8310 owners out there. Up until now the latest OS for your device and pretty much all other devices pre-4.6 OS was 4.5.0.153 but as Ronen posted at BerryReview there is an official version that is even higher currently available to you all. Version 4.5.0.163 is now available from 02 UK for public consumption. Be sure to grab it if having the latest OS is at the top of your to-do list today and if you have never done a OS update before, sure sure to check out our guide before doing so.

cant get it to work. it downloaded fine and even got though the setup instructions but wen i opened the media manager, the upgrade didnt show up. anyone know wats up?

Once the file is installed, it will ask again to install the Desktop Manager update. Once you do that, (and after a computer restart) run the DM, plug your phone in and it will show the new update.

thx 4 replying so quickly, i removed the installment and started all over again and the same thing happened. first i downloaded, then i installed,(it didn't ask to install the Desktop Manager update) then opened DM and no upgrade pop up, again. thx anyway but i guess I'll just stick to my current OS, for now anyway.

Sorry things didn't work out for you. I had thought the same too, but after I cleared the windows, the last one open was the prompt to update the DM. After that, everything went like clockwork. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what has changed. :-D

Believe the vendor.xml file needs to be removed from program files>common files>research in motion>apploader>vendor.xml file

Is this build higher then .153?
4.5.0.153 has platform 2.7.0.105 whereas 4.5.0.163 has platform 2.7.0.92 which is the same platform as 4.5.0.124
Are we upgrading or downgrading?

I'm thinking the .92 is an upgrade from the .105 strictly from a math viewpoint. .9 is higher than .1. Example: 20.1 is closer to 20 as 20.9 is closer to 21.

Not trying to be rude, but, from a math standpoint, 105 is a larger number than 92. (I know, with the decimals it is confusing). So I'm not sure what happened here, but the 4.5.0.153 seems to be an upgraded version of .163. HOWEVER, the actual files are named so that .153 is release 246 and .163 is release 257. So I don't know which to go by, so I'm just gonna stick with .153, hasn't failed me yet!
