Here are some more staggering pricing figures that are included in the Storms price:

1. Blackberry Software 4.7 - Price $1 Billion - Manufacturer: Collaborative development between Swoosh and BBlauncher developers

2. Blackberry Storms WIFI module - Price $0 - Manufacturer: None

These "how much it really costs" things are always bunk.

They always make wild guesses based on the retail value of each of the components. When the hardware is bought in such bulk the manufacturer NEVER pays the full retail price (or anywhere near it) for each of the parts.

Then there's the labor/shipping costs. (Not to mention the software costs)

Any attempts to calculate the "real" hardware costs are silly.

I wish these idiots would stop, I'm tired of seeing these.

Back when iSuppli 'priced' up the G1 I took a look at their site, and rather than give details of their pricing, everything I tried basically tried to sell their services. Utterly pointless. If I want to know what I'll need to fork out to build a phone, I'll call the suppliers. This bunch make a series of assumptions and act like it's a fact.

I don't think I believe that. They probably would charge way more than $250 for the phone if it cost $203 to make.

Its a new adventure for RIM and "we the consumer".

Perfect: No, but damn close!

There have been regular OS leaks (weekly betas show me they're working their a__ off), and since the "must have" features of the phone work very reliably -> email (push) and phone calls, it's definately a keeper for me!

Top that off with a HUGE CDMA network, what's NOT to love!

I can't wait to see what impact the app store has!
