BlackBerry developers are making use of the Redemption offer that has been available through BlackBerry World for some time now. We've been posting a lot of them on CrackBerry already. They're not going to stop soon either. This time around Nemory Studios has 150 free copies of Messenger for Facebook available. We've taken a look at Messenger for Facebook before and I'm a fan as it's pretty smooth and fast.

If you haven't already picked up Messenger for Facebook, maybe you can get lucky and grab one of the free copies. As a reminder here are some of the features of Messenger for Facebook.

  • Real Time Sending and Receiving Chats (no refreshing required)
  • Start a Conversation
  • Send Stickers (via plain text Links/URL)
  • Update your Facebook Status within the App
  • Very Fast and Fluid Performance
  • Filter / Search Friends via Name, Online/Offline/Idle Presence
  • Keyboard Shortcuts - Jump to top & bottom, search
  • Web Group Chats
  • Extra Security - Application Password

It is available for all BlackBerry 10 smartphones. It regularly costs $1.99 but there is also a Lite version available which has ads and less features than the pro version.

Instructions to get a free copy

  1. Open up BlackBerry World
  2. Swipe down from the top and tap Redeem
  3. Enter promo code BESTFBMESSENGER (caps matter) and tap OK
  4. App should show as FREE. Download app

Right?! No thanks!

Swiped via CB10 with my T-Mobile USA (Only T-Mo rep still pushing  )  Z30 (STA100-5), son! The Thor's Hammer of phones! Member of "Club Z30 "..... the most exclusive club in mobile. Once you go BlackBerry, everything else is wack-berry! #longestsignatureever

And that's different from Facebook and Google+ how? Not to mention it's kind of the point of social media.

Just saying

Messenger asks for down right draconian permissions, do your research - I'll pass.

Crack-a-lackin' since '08

Crazy permissions on an independent app that you can use to access FACEBOOK chat???
Privacy and security concerns are great, but most ppl that use FaceBook don't concern themselves with those things.

Frosty white Q10/10.2.1.3247

You can trust me. I'll explain the permissions.

BBM: For updating status, bbm connect, share to bbm friends
Device Information: to know if you're using a device with square screen or not for better UI
Internet: network
Microphone: sending voice notes, recording video attachments
Notifications: for Hub
Run in Background: Active Frame Background Process
Shared Files: to access your files so you can attach it and send via dropbox.

Oh, I C - Didn't realize this was an independent dev. App. I've read about the Fb Msngr for Android and it's actions, and thought this was that. Now this just adds another argument as to why ppl should just come back to Black!

Awesome. Thanks for that.
Wasn't taking a shot at you or the app, was just taking a shot at Facebook :-p
Love your work on the Snapchat app.

The real shame is that BlackBerry don't provide the developer the opportunity to put in an explanation about why the app needs each type of permission in to the pop-up window that does the asking.

If they did then people wouldn't get so hot under the collar about why an app needs permissions for such and such, there is usually a good reason, so come on BlackBerry let the devs explain at the point when the user has to make the decision rather than in a forum or blog website where hardly anyone will see the perfectly valid explanation.

Already purchased this before. I haven't used it since the first day I installed it.

Hahaha, they're gone!! Just tried it and it says all copies are gone, pfff...

Loved the Q10 but now it's Z30 power time!!!

"Quick" doesn't really help, one must have lighting speed, lol, gone in 2 minutes!

Couldn't grab it, but thanks for the promo and continue developing native apps! Keep up the good work Nemory! :)

Yeah, quick doesn't cut it anymore. I just took a break from Crackberry for 30 minutes and missed this giveaway.

Gone already... Thanks anyway. I wasn’t totally sure if I wanted this anyhow; BBM doesn't need more support going to its competitors.

I don't understand..what is the difference between the FB Messenger Pro and FB Messenger Lite..i have both of them. No hub integration, no headless support.

And right in the dead center of the article you just responded to:

"It regularly costs $1.99 but there is also a Lite version available which has ads and less features than the pro version."

It serves a different purpose because it's for PM'ing your Facebook contacts who often have given you no other way to contact them. Personal experience here... I am not a big Facebook user but one day I got a message from a guy who found my profile on Facebook and told me he had found my wallet in a cafe I had just left. BBM wouldn't have been any use in this situation.

You know you have an issue when you're on facebook so much that you need fb-msngr - go meet these people in real life! Haha!

Still curious...messaging in native fb crapp seems to still be working. Do we even need another app running in the bg to get fb messages? (not that I care if I see them until I login to fb once a week-ish)

I think some people are confusing this 3rd Party Facebook Messenger app with the official one that's only on Android and iOS... This one doesn't request permissions like access to photos or phone dialler.

I was waiting for this app to go headless before I purchase, but got lucky with the code today. Thanks Nemory and CB

Gutted, I guess I will have to wait for the native fb app to get up to scratch, tbh I dont think thats gonna happen anytime soon.........

iPhone# best selling overrated MP3 player ;)

Note to all the developers we thank you for the giveaways. however if you don't drop like 2000 copies they are done on this site in mins.

I think a better idea is a free download that gives you 3 4 or7 days to evaluate any app. At that time you must pay to keep using it. I can't tell you how much I've waisted on apps that I then find to be useless. Beats these free giveaways that most won't use (just want the freebie).

Every app should have an evaluation period imo.

Has anyone seen the big fuss going around in particular on Facebook about the Facebook messenger terms of use and what they are doing with your data, phone and text messaging?? NO thanks, will pass!!

Posted via CB10

Cool but no thankd.... no plans to get another texting app... especially a paid one. Or even a free one lol. Hard to beat BBM or a regular text for those not on BBM. I didn't even have interest in that Whats app or whatsup or whatever it was

Posted via CB10

NOOOO! COME ON GUYS! :""""""(
AM THE ONE THAT ASKED NEMORY FOR THIS AND I DIDNT GET ONEE
SOMEONE GIVE ME ONE FOR FREE PLEASEEE! :""""""""""""(

PLEASEEE I CONTACTED HIM AND EVERYTHING TO GIVE US A PROMO AND YOU GUYS TOOK IT :((((((

Via BlackBerry Q10

Android and iOS users launch a revolt against Facebook for making them download a separate app for FB Messenger.

BlackBerry users pay $2 for said privilege.

Makes sense. Honestly, if you use FB Messenger a lot, then go ahead and buy this app. Support the developer. If someone wants to message me, they have my email/twitter/text/BBM information.

Posted via CB10

In all fairness, some more promo codes should be given out as some of may have missed it due to BlackBerry World undergoing maintenance right now and we can't even access it.

Mr.C

If you have the face book app, don't all your messages appear in the hub anyway? I don't see ware this is even needed. I must be missing something?

Posted via CB10

Am I missing something? Isn't this integrated in the os and the hub anyway? I use chat all the time, through the hub?

Posted via CB10

Why are all of the freebies posted after I get to work? I can not have a cell phone or have internet access at work. (i work at a prison) I am without my phone from 6:10 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday- Friday! All of these freebies need to be posted earlier!

When can expect the headless feature to work when the app is closed? As of right now, I have to leave the active tile open in order to get messages.

Posted via CB10

Wouldn't want to use up precious memory on an inferior messaging app, BBM is all I need, thank you.

Posted via Z10

It says already over. I want this app. Does anybody have any promo code. Please give me
